Its an extension of playground mentality all the flag waving, “us ” against them.. only no one knows what us is exactly.  I’ve never understood patriotism in sport.If the population of England took DNA tests, pretty much everyone to a man would come back with European /African DNA etc yet we all have to wave a St georges flag around chanting En ger land wanting Jamaican born Sterling with his little gun tats to score… no thanks !
