I’m wondering when benefits started having tax deducted from them
Benefits are taxable, agreed, but they don’t actually reach the personal allowance threshold to have anything physically deducted

Susie is well versed in tax thanks!
You aren’t a tax payer if you do not physically have tax deducted from your source of income!

=D> Glad to hear it ! Then i need not remind you that what you talk of
is income tax ….And what i talk of is tax per se

I am a tax payer regardless, do you dispute this ?

Technically a tax payer is someone who pays income tax.

Although VAT stands for Value Added Tax, payment of VAT does not make you a tax payer. Nor do any other forms of tax other than income tax.

Ergo you are not a taxpayer.

I know enough to get me by, and thats what counts…. :P 8)

    Good old ” wiki ” purports that……

Taxes consist of direct tax or indirect tax, and may be paid in money or as its labour equivalent (often but not always unpaid labour).

As a payer of indirect taxes….I guess that makes me a tax payer right ?

Does this bit in bold confuse you? Is that why you edited it out? Or maybe it just doesn’t suit your argument.

Technically as in using the commmon definition agreed between the various bodies to ensure a common understanding.

The only tax that technically qualifies you as a taxpayer is income tax.

Now….which bit of that are you having difficulty grasping?
