Mega thread this 8)
Loved the whole ska thing!.. Ever since my nutjob older brother brought home a live tape of the stuff in the early 80s! I was only a wee young lad at the time but I still kept my TwoTone theatrics well up to speed :P
I truly fell in love with Madness.. who, to be fair, were a much more watered down affair compared to The Beat and The Specials etc. But class nonetheless!
Just a few here, to allow others to post some lol!
The “Absolutely” album was a bible…
Return Of The Lost Palmas 7
(love the “Waiter” bit in this  .. famous at our school.. easily pleased eh? ):P
The later Grey Day
and the much later (and much undervalued) One Better Day
:D
Is is really possible I could love you more than I already do?
Those links are the bomb 8)
da da da dadada…. da da da dadada “waiter” seeing it live brought me to tears being in the arms of my man  at front of stage and getting winks from the band.
Embarrasement… well how many of us think that song was written for us?
Without Prince Buster there would be none of those memories.
What house party front room isnt filled with guys jumping around when those songs come on?
Perhaps Suggs brought his own or their (Madness) own Genre to the whole two tone/ska thingy…
Bit like house…… so many different rooms innit 8)
love ya serg x

18 April, 2008 at 11:30 pm #328044Who’s arguing? Ska started in the late 60’s in jamaica, long before reggae was big.
