Hi all, and especially Martin who I am writing this post for.
I would like to document an example of how homosexual abuse is perpetuated and accepted in Just Chat, this is far from the first something like this has happened and certainly isn’t the worst of it.
It is however the first time the moderation staff have explicitly refused to do anything about it, and dismissed it as a non-issue. I find this especially confusing do to the recent changes that were made to the site to prevent abuse.
So it begain with a conversation between me and DivineIntervention about sexuality, and how the definition of words shapes language and politics. This was then interupted by cooldandywarhol who mocked and insulted the idea of pansexuality (which is legally recognised in many countries as a sexuality).
I havent captured all of the comments, but here is another sample.
Later on when ForumHostNS and ChatGuideLE signed in I reported the abuse to them (not captured in screenshot), and my report was initially ignored. But after pushing it I was given a disimissive reply with the meaning “I didn’t see it so it didn’t happen”
When I asked about the chat history I was again dismissed, and told that it the host “couldn’t be bothered” to check it.
Some time later again, cooldandywarhol references the abusive messages while NS is in the room, and my complain is again dismissed.
This is illegal hate speech in the UK under the communications act, and if that wasn’t enough then it shows a blatent double standard in Just Chat. If certain people are abused by guests there has to be sweepign site wide policy changes, but if other people are abused then it doesnt matter and they need to be quiet.

Additional note:
After the last screenshot I attempted to explain the reference that was made but NS claimed that she couldn’t see the message despite clearly reading the chatroom at the time (it was made 30 seconds before her next post).

I’m very touched but troubled that drac has put the effort in to capture and report on a tiny fraction of my words.
Unfortunately, drac’s little report doesn’t show the abuse and bullying that was happening to ME during the entire session despite my efforts to understand what was actually meant by the various sexualities that were being discussed. I was quite confused as were others in the room about how many sexualities there seemed to be being discussed but I really was trying to understand and was using some humour to try and get to the bottom of things – so to speak – because you were making abstract definitions without explaining what they were.
Pot ..kettle…and black (no pun intended) seems to be the overarching theme here. But drac has raised an interesting precedent in recording conversation in the room. Maybe we all ought to be doing that? And then where does this lead eh? Everyone recording everyone else eh? Do you want a sterile room drac ? Is that what you want drac? Will JC become an i-spy police state with impeachment trials following every accusation? And then we have double standards. The abuse that you and others hurl out is ok but anything you regard as abuse to you is hate speech.
Drac, is it your intention to bully by reporting on people’s words used in the room where the motive is presumably to have them banned? I’ve noticed that the conversation is amazingly clean compared to the vile sexual assaults that used to be thrown into the room when the spammers were present and when you never seemed to be bothered. I’ve also observed that the VAST majority of JC members are very pleased with the new look JC has without the spammers. I believe that you drac are one of the minority that hates the fact that the spammers have gone and that you are looking for a scapegoat to vent your feelings.
Your bullying friends are just annoying earwigs in the mist of the diverse JC community but you, drac are a very intelligent person and I like the hurly burly debate we have together in the room and the boards. If, however, you are truly offended by anything I say as distinct from wanting me to be excluded from JC because you simply don’t like me then I sincerely apologise.
I don’t think this warrants anymore time or words spent on this.
But your bully team will undoubtedly make their contributions……below.
Alfie (cooldandywarhol) has been spewing homophobic abuse at me on the boards and also when I used the rooms for years. Including more recently on the boards. Alfie has a proven track record of abusing people over their sexuality and then typing mammoth essays portraying himself as the victim when he is confronted over it. Rather like the countless women he has abused over the years are now considered not only by him to have “deserved it”. Same pattern. Same theme. Same old Skeletor.

If you had enganged with the conversation respectfully I would have explained it to you, But this is clearly a lie because I did explain it, as is shown in my screenshots.

Apparently massive changes had to be made to the site when certain people were abused by guests, so the precident has aleady been set.
I’m asking for consistant enforcement of this standard.
Either all abuse is banned, or none is.

Yes, as I just stated I want the rules of the site to be applied. Which means banning you.

A lot of which was targeted at me if I was in the room, mostly about either my sexuality or weight.

Yes, you have the moral authority to speak about diversity after your actions

Far worse has been said to me on JustChat.
But as I keep saying, the enforcement must be consistant.
The guides can’t bury their heads in the sand and pretend nothing is happening or has happened because it’s their friend that is doing it.
All abuse is banned, or none is.

I did find the room conversation rather interesting actually. Especially the response from individuals I once thought I knew rather well (in internet terms). They have quite obviously either given up or fallen for his (Alfie) sly antics at portraying himself as the victim.
