I don’t think there is any real support the the SDL or the EDL…. as I understand it there were only about 30 in Dundee…. and most of them stayed in the pub and couldn’t be bothered….. 200 in Walthamstow but that was supposed to be their big flagship gathering, hardly that.
I think the media play into their hands with all the rhetoric that goes on which is a real ego boost for their gangster type leaders…… ignore them like naughty children they will get fed up and go away.

I agree with you there, Mrs T. some people just like a good punchup, though.
Worth keeping an eye open, just in case.
In my youth, the National Front and its paramilitary spinoffs such as Column 88 were a fear. But their day passed – Thatcher swept their vote in 79 after expressing her concern about the ‘black tide’ of immigration.
The support given to the BNP, the ‘respectable’ face of the EDL, is now moving over to UKIP. My guess is that UKIP will see their day pass too, but not yet.
4 September, 2012 at 6:39 pm #507477ignore them ???? never ! Let them know they are being watched and enjoy revelling in their face book pages at the paltry excuses from keyboard warriors..all these threats and warnings.. now they are claiming there will be millions here next year. watch this space. ! must have been a pandemic of the Flu in darkest Fife on Friday night.. all the main stays and most threatening came down with it… wee shame :)
4 September, 2012 at 6:48 pm #507478Special mention to the English leader of the Young BNP. that turned a shade of green (puce) all manly in his ill fitting cheap suit.. at a better class of Youth, that never opted to sign up :)
5 September, 2012 at 9:27 am #507479Ruby, I think you probably frequented the Hackney Labour Club and teh Hope and Anchor in Islington’s Upper Street at the same time as me. Bet the Anti-Nazi League did it for you.
You have to keep your eye open for these people. They also pose quite a threat to isolated asians and blacks. But I don’t see them as warranting the attention of health and education cuts, etc

5 September, 2012 at 3:05 pm #507483god cosy as if i could forget those days we hoofed the boards..me throwing a hissy fit in blonde pigtails and you in your little purple velvet pantaloons..selling the discarded programmes after the show to make enough for a sherbet dib dab and a tin o evo stick !
reg was a bit older than I, had the patience of a saint and was one of the Wapping warriors.I lived in his house on the queensbridge road and one day he was watching cricket, i was glazing over … he asked if i ” liked cricket” and i explained I didnt know the rules, he then took about half an hour (at least) telling me the rules.. he asked a question later on in the match and i had to confess i had not taken in his explanation.. Most people would have shook ther heads and laughed. NOT reg,, he took a breath then proceeded to tell me the fvcking rules all over again !! Im sure rain stopped play and i buggered off to the local pub ( harlequins ) .
I often wonder what became of reg :)
