For a lot of reasons I rue the day the internet took hold. Privacy… no longer in existence, identify theft is endemic. Everything at work takes twice as long because all data has to be stored in three different ways in five different locations and still printed out and filed manually (ok i exaggerate a tad, but its not very far off the truth). People have stopped caring because computers answer phone calls, or you have to go online to fill out forms, and… I hate automated answering services… I kept getting put through to the wrong person at Guy’s because of their system! And don’t start me on trains and tickets. Voice recognition is deaf dumb and blind. Don’t start me on broadband technical teams either!!!! phones that link you through to email, facebook and god knows what else. Now ok, i am sounding like a ludite, but whatever was wrong with a phone that you use to just text or speak to someone? Why make a phone into a mini computer?

Maybe in a brave new world, people will just never speak to each other again, they will email or text, and a true friendship will not involve getting a bottle of red wine and a takeaway and sitting talking and laughing with someone you have known and known well for years and years. Progress?

Scary isn’t it minim, I hate it when I fill a form in online, press send only to have the message that I have omitted something… and guess what all the information I input has disappeared… so I have to go through the whole thing again, Grrrrrr

I agree with you why cant I just speak to someone, have you ever tried to find the phone number of your local bank? impossible… you have to fill out a form online and if they cannot deal with your query online they MIGHT ring you… Progress… grrrr

Goes off to have a nice glass of cyber wine with an “online friend”

For the avoidance of doubt, I don’t use Facebook – boring people to death on here is quite enough.

I keep getting myspace and facebook mixed up, and asking people to come on my face!

No one has taken me upon the offer – thank goodness.
