30 August, 2009 at 1:50 pm #410637we have fought for and agreed terms and conditions and pay deals , why shud that be undermined now ?, the issue is equality , everyone workin on a site with deals already in place shud follow this .our lates pay offer for next 3 yrs , first year 0 % 2nd year o.5 % 3rd year 0.5 % which is in effect a pay cut in keepin up with inflation , we could fight it and probably will , but whats the point , the migrants will fill our shoes and work for half the pay , so yes this is good for the economy , as firms and share holders prosper , we suffer as wages will drop and the migrants continue to be exploited
30 August, 2009 at 1:59 pm #410638Tictax, I don’t want or mean to undermine what your saying, in a lot of ways I do agree. However, the attitude of some really doesn’t help does it. Iv’e been to the local jobcentre a few times over the last weeks and months. Not for myself but my son has been looking, when wev’e maybe gone into town centre for shopping and he’g gone in the job centre. How any people have we all heard in there, saying, ”oh i aint even gettin outa bed for that”,,,ok its minimum wage, i’m on minimum wage, but it’s a wage. Mostly those same pple would still get some help in benefits also, but at least they’d have a little self respect too. They don’t want it though.
My own son, fortunately is working again. He contacted a place he’d worked at before, asked if they were taking anyone on, he was told they had a different ‘in house’ agency now and to go along and register. He did, he was called later the same day and asked if he was interested in permanent nights, he drives a fork lift. He’s been back now for 3 weeks and he’s very happy, nights suit him, he’s a bit of a night owl anyway, but on the whole, he’s happy to be back working.
30 August, 2009 at 2:10 pm #410639Imagine .. Poland has a revolution a massive growth.. wages are £800 a week minimum.. if you want you can go there and get yourself a job.. now wheres my passport.
Dont resent the Poles it’s all legal and you’d bugger off over there at the drop of a hat if the conditions were reversed30 August, 2009 at 2:15 pm #410640£5.73 per hour for workers aged 22 years and older
A development rate of £4.77 per hour for workers aged 18-21 inclusive
£3.53 per hour for all workers under the age of 18, who are no longer of compulsory school ageI think your right Pete. Those ^^ are the minimum rates of pay. The people in the job centre, the ”not getting out of bed for that” ones, have only themselves to blame. Because the migrants will!
Some of these people, the countries they come from, the conditions they live in, we’d not be able to cope for a day of it!! £5.73 an hour to them must seem like a kings ransom, and they’ll work all the hours for it too, and who can blame them!
30 August, 2009 at 2:15 pm #410641Besides which, these people have come here looking for a better life. Who are we to deny them that human right? I know a Croatian man who came here having watched his mother, wife, children and father get slaughtered during the war, he had been shot himself and lay on the ground pretending to be dead so that he would escape death. Luckily he did and he is here working in the UK… I can’t say I could deny him that one ounce.
We are all born equal, its just geography that makes us different..
30 August, 2009 at 6:53 pm #410642british jobs for british workers i say
a decent wage for a decent job
minimum wage is taking the p iss
minimum wages exploit the weak
these multi national companys make huge proffits subsidised by tax payers who make up benifits for the poorly paid -
