    Ge

330 million people live in America. I wonder what are the odds of one of them finding a tiny little British site and meeting someone just like “her”. Both who then spend all their time on that tiny little site calling others “liars” and “trolls”.

    The odds must be enormouuuuuuuuuuuus.

Could you re-post your first question?

I’m spending minimal time here this week, and my guess is that you’re back at work, but I’ll lookout for it.

hat I do not buy, Is the pretend ” if I’m wrong and everything goes smoothly and things get better I’ll be grateful and pleased ” blurb ( not a direct quote but you know what I mean ). I don’t buy that for 1 minute. Instead of everyone getting behind a democratic decision which will go ahead, they are desperate for it to fail. All their doom and gloom predictions have failed thus far. Scep and others like him are willing Brexit to fail, they are not thinking of their poor families in this respect at all …. they are desperate to say ‘ I told you so’. Its so painfully obvious !

Well, I like what Paigey’s been saying, and disagree profoundly with Linda on the economy

but Ms M, no. I’m not a Euro-federalist in the way that many here are British nationalists.

The main problem which concerns me is living standards. If living standards were being permanently depressed by EU membership, then I would look around for alternatives. I wouldn’t just jump out without checking the ground beforehand though, unless the EU collapsed (not happened as yet).

My opinion is that the EU provided better living standards (probably a lot better) than leaving. Leaving is going to lead to some tough times unless we are very lucky wiht the world economy booming.

However, I have a problem. A referendum voted to leave. I wouldn’t exactly call it fair and square, or the will of the people, or even a democratic decision (though it’s not worth going into that atm)

But it was a vote to leave, and any attempt  to reverse the vote by referendum by Blair and the LibDems would be seen as manipulating and anti-democratic. In some ways, it would be manipulative and anti-democratic.

It’s a real gamble with our living standards, what you’ve succeeded in doing. Your lack of a Plan B is actually scary, because I know the plans that Tories such as Rees Mogg and Iain Duncan Smith have once we leave, they’ve made it very clear.

So I hope that parliament, or a general election, will modify Brexit, and I hope that Brexit is reversed at some point. In other words, everything depends on the circumstances of the time.

For what it’s worth, I think a brexit deal is likely, but by no means certain because of Northern Ireland. If things get screwed up by Mrs May, then we’ll be having a helluva lot of discussion in the country as well as here in the autumn.

But there was a vote to leave and since that vote there is no sign of a major shift in opinion. That’s why I oppose the idea of a second referendum.
