However, when all were initially taking the view that the McCanns were the innocent victims of a heinous crime and posting messages expressing their sympathy, I chose the alternative view that they were far more involved in the ‘disappearance’ of Maddie than they were at first saying.
Fortunately (for me) there were a few that very quietly agreed with this view so I didn’t get the usual beating that one expects when failing to publicly grieve for a stranger. It now seems that (at last) both the police and the world’s Media have come round to this same view.
Every time that anybody (police, Media etc etc) tried to even hint at the McCann’s personal responsibility for Maddie’s demise, they immediatly went into full damage limitation mode and issued reams of press releases demanding that the Media focus remained on the search for Maddie.
Looking back on this, it seems clear to me (and others) that they were desperate to prevent their part in all this being questioned. Given the current situation when both of them are now declared formal suspects, you can see how clever their strategy was …. it terms of deflecting attention away from their own alleged involvement.
Do you suppose that their proposed libel action against the Portuguese press will now go ahead???? It’s going to be pretty difficult for them to win, against the background of suspicion about their guilt.
Still jumping to your conclusions, and forming your own theories. Nothing has been confirmed. Lets wait and see what happens.

Yes you’re right, self-evidently I am speculating – as indeed is everybody else who comments.
However, surely this is one of the joys of debate and of this type of ‘speculation’. After all if we waited for the certainty of a result on this (or other) matters, then it would be pretty pointless saying anything other than making bald factual announcements. Swapping opinions and discussing/debating is after all the essence of this type of message board eh?
BTW – I’ve often wondered why it is that the sainted and holy Mother McCann has such a hard expressionless look on her face all the time. She contrives to show no emotion at all whatever the situation.
Could it be that she is cold and heartless inside as well?????

but you know nothing of the circles i move in i have friends who earn more money whilst on their lunch break than some of my friends do in a week i dont only choose to socialiuse with a certain type of person as you so obviously do by your own admission
i have no children i personally wouldnt leave them on their own, i have never once condoned it at all
what im saying is everyone seemed to jump on the PB bandwagon instead of having their own opinions, he took a while to post about this topic and alot of posts where made before he said anythingthen as soon as he did BAM everyones joins on the bus.
no offence to PB at all it clearly means that the members hold you in high regard.

I still cant see it. These are people who have been in the Media Spotlight since the day their Daughter vanished. This is a body were talking about. It’s not an easy thing to dispose of especially with a Media Circus camped around you.
This would have only left a few hours for them to bury a Body, concoct a story, and then to face the World , and tell the world that their Daughter had been taken, whilst holding it together knowing that they’d accidentely killed their Daughter.

Day 125 – 05/09/2007We were surprised to find increased media presence in Praia da Luz again today. We were followed down to church, then to the shops and back to our accommodation which is very unusual, apart from the build up to the 100 days. All the excitement seems to be over the results of the recent forensic tests that again have created a huge amount of speculation. There has been no official conformation that the report has been received, or what the tests suggest if anything!
Kate and I went for a run along the coast at lunchtime. It was pretty windy but still warm enough. Later in the afternoon we went to visit a friend of Kate’s who is on holiday in a nearby village with her family. They brought lots of cards from well-wishers at home and we talked a lot about the search for Madeleine. The twins had a great time splashing around in a little inflatable paddle pool, singing songs and being doted on by the older kids.
See they can freely have a wee drive without the press following….
Day 122 – 02/09/2007Another relatively quiet family day. My mum and sister arrived this morning after we had been to church. This afternoon we took the kids to a friend’s house with a pool. Kate and I went for a short run and then we all had a swim and a couple of treats brought all the way from Glasgow!.
Several people have been asking about whether they should still be putting up posters of Madeleine since I have said the campaign will be having a lower media profile- especially of Kate and I. The advice of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children is that high visibility of the missing child through posters, car stickers etc increases the chances of finding that child. Kate and I therefore would encourage you to continue taking posters on holiday and ask permission to have them displayed in supermarkets, post offices and shops.

Its a farce this investigation.
I have to say, im with you two on this one. Seems to me the police are under pressure to nail someone for this. They’ve found nothing and now they’re pointing the finger at the mum and dad. Would’nt be surprised in the least if they are being framed.

I just had to chuckle at the Suns headline over this, they call the police offer for a confession a “sick” one, that sort of crap is what helps to cause this kind of occurence in the first place
Even foriegn police forces dont just randomly pick suspects, and if anything the portugese ones are being perhaps OVERLY cautious, add to that the fact the current state of play is based on actual dna evidence, and evidence presented by the BRITISH police and still the papers as with many individuals are so brainwashed into a way of thinking that even the hint of a suspicion or accusation is seen as “sick” :shock:
What friggin planet do these people live on FFS? Its like they are totally blind and oblivious to the workings of reality and the real world, no wonder we have a country heading for its social death throes

not seen any shaz, just watching news 24 though :? said the police have 10 days to charge them :shock:
So this effectively “stops” the search campaign for maddie, doesnt it. :?
