I think that you have a really interesting point there Sharon – although there is a fine line between ‘causation’ and ‘criminal responsibility’.
May I just clarify something. I don’t think that anybody on this or other threads have actually stated their belief that the revered and sainted McCanns actually murdered their child themselves.
What has been most strongly implied is the belief that they somehow had a part to play in her ‘disappearance’ – other than leaving her alone and unprotected in the apartment that is.
The difficulty with this theory is that the timeline of visits to the apartment prior to the 9.05pm visit (by Mother McCann?????) and the first report of Maddie being missed at 10.00pm (by Mother McCann) is seemingly unknown.
If it was only the McCanns that allegedly visited their children, when the whim took them, prior to 9.05pm then we only have their word for it that Maddie was there at all during the whole of the evening.
I do find it difficult to believe that somehow a mystery stalker / paedophile just happened to know that on that particular evening a child would be left unattended in that particular apartment and that they could enter and take her (apparently soundlessly) without the risk of being caught because they somehow just happened to know that the adults would not be visiting.
As I’ve said before there could have been people watching them. People that knew they were out that night, or someone that obsevered them going out I dont quite get what part of that you find difficult to imagine PB?
6 September, 2007 at 11:31 pm #286151Quite a few people have done this id imagine. Left the children in what they thought was a safe place if they were only across the road. They’ll have to live with that.
Ya ya ya, we know no one from Just Chat would have done it cause youre all fu.cking perfect Saints who have never make a mistake in your lives.

Well firstly I am guessing youre not a parent if you think that most parents WOULD leave 3 year old kids alone in a house and leave the house to cross the road, yeah loads of people would, but those same “loads of people” dont deserve to have kids to begin with and are part of the reason so many kids do die each year either from accidents or following abductions
But even putting that aside for a moment, leaving a child in their OWN HOME in a street surrounded by nieghbours who would hopefully either notice a stranger hanging around or a strange adult walking with a child they know isnt even in the same ball park as leaving a three year old child alone in a foriegn country where nobody is likely to know them or what their parents look like
And a last point, it doesnt matter if 95% of people in this country are the type of pathetic half assed dimwitted self absorbed irresponsible neglecting parents that WOULD leave a 3 year old alone in a house and go out, that DOESNT make it right, infact it makes it far more in need of legislation and punitive actions to try and correct that behaviour than if it was just the odd few who were such crap parents
7 September, 2007 at 9:11 am #286153Reuters – 45 minutes agoLISBON (Reuters) – The mother of missing four-year-old Madeleine McCann will be formally declared a suspect on Friday, a spokeswoman for the family said.
The sudden shift in the investigation came after authorities received forensic evidence recovered from the holiday apartment in the Algarve where Madeleine vanished on May 3.“She will be formally declared a suspect,” said Justine McGuinness, a spokeswoman for the McCanns.
On Thursday, Kate McCann was questioned by police for about 11 hours at a police station in the Algarve. Kate’s husband Gerry is expected to be questioned by police on Friday.
A Briton living in Praia da Luz had until now been identified by police as the only suspect in the investigation and his house has been searched twice.
Madeleine’s parents have campaigned relentlessly to draw attention to the case. Their efforts led to a meeting with Pope Benedict in Rome who blessed a picture of Madeleine a few weeks after the disappearance.
Business tycoons and celebrities ranging from “Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling to football stars have contributed to a reward for her return.

i find it strange that it was the mother checking on the kids both times, she discovered her child was missing but hes the one doing all the talking constantly ranting about finding maddie if they walk from this without at least a child neglect charge ill be amazed, but theyre middle class doctors wealthy and articulate so i doubt they will be

yup.
7 September, 2007 at 10:51 am #286158I know of mothers who have left their kids at home whilst theyve nipped to a neighbours house for a cuppa or to the shop for a pint of milk.
it is amazing though!
that the McCanns are the ONLY parents in the WHOLE WORLD! to ever of left a child alone ever! we arent just seeing a case about a missing child.
we are seeing the FIRST EVER CASE IN THE WORLD EVER! of a child being left alone for any amount of time.
it is an intriguing case because iv never heard of it happening before..
still stick by what i said though.
most arej umping on a bandwagon started by PB hardly anyone had even dared to admit that they might be guilty until he poasted saying something wasnt right
7 September, 2007 at 11:42 am #286159Mrs McCann has been made a formal suspect
