To comment on the children screaming out & being heard aspect.
I recall that in the first few days of this long running saga, there was a map of the holiday complex published in the papers. It showed that the Tapas bar that the McCanns went to to enjoy themselves (whilst their children were left to fend for and to protect themselves) was on the far side of the holiday vilage complex.
This was apparently around 150 yards away or so as the crow flies. However, because of fences, hedges, gates etc there was no direct access from the central complex area to the McCann’s flat. Instead they would have had to walk round the outside and access their flat from the road running alongside the complex – apparently around 5-7 minutes walk each way.
In view of the distance, it would be most unlikely that a child’s cries for help would be heard above the general noise of the parent’s partying and so on (assuming that the children actually cried for help at all – and were not ‘medicated’ as suggested above).
This also might explain why the visits to the children were NOT every 30 minutes, as originally claimed by the sainted Mrs McCann. Indeed she stated to Police that they were all three OK at 9.05pm and were discovered missing at 10.00pm.
Whatever the outcome – both of these parents have a lot to answer for. Still I expect that their visit to the Pope provided much needed comfort

If they were indeed sedated, as has been suggested then the McCanns wouldn,t have needed to check on them every 30 minutes as they claimed they did, because they knew full well the children wouldn,t wake up. The usual thing to give kids if you want them to go to sleep at night and ensure you arn,t disturbed whislt your out partying or whatever, is either valagan or fenegan. BOTH have to be prescribed by a doctor. Handy that mummy and daddy are both doctors isn,t it? Nice and convenient for the abductor eh? Allready sedated for him or her. All they had to then was carry Maddie off. She wouldn,t have made a sound because she was heavily sedated and the twins wouldnt have woken up either. What gets me about this whole bloody fiasco is that it always seems to be McCann senior doing the talking. Mrs McCann seems happy to sit there meekly nodding her head every now and then whilst hubby answers the questions. Makes me wonder why they are both reported to be very upset that the portugese police didnt, phone them and tell them personally that the results of the DNA tests had come back. It,s him that gets upset in interviews with media and storms out. Neither of them like being asked probing questions about any involvement they MAY have in this. Instead they prefer the focus to be kept away from them as they feel it detracts from the investiagtion. Wonder why eh?6 September, 2007 at 10:17 am #286122Do you two actually believe all this cr*ap you type…
6 September, 2007 at 10:20 am #2861236 September, 2007 at 10:32 am #286124It is a well made point though.
Father McCann does all the comments whilst Mother McCann simply stares blank faced expressing no emotion at all – and clutching Maddie’s teddy bear (presumably for effect).
On the one hand they bitterly complain that the Portuguese police are keeping them totally in the dark as to any developments in the case ….. then if they are asked ANY sort of questions at all they ‘angrily’ denounce the questioner saying that the Police are not allowed to release ANY details of the ongoing investigation.
It certainly seems to be a most interesting approach. The apparent results of the DNA samples etc recently collected from the flat are allegedly now known to the police. So Father McCann immediatly issues a press release denouncing the police for witholding details of this from them (and thus from the world’s press).
Maybe the sainted McCann’s irritation actually stems from the fact that they are unable to release confidential information to the Media ahead of the proper authorities.
It must be really tough wanting to be the centre of the Media story and yet being deprived of any information that would allow this to happen.
Maybe their new best friend, the Pope, could intercede on their behalf???

The McCanns, Kate and Gerry, have previously attended regular informal meetings with police as a couple.A source close to the family said Gerry McCann was expected to be interviewed by police on Friday.
The moves come after Portuguese police received partial results of forensic evidence analysed in Britain.
“Kate is going in without her husband to answer questions regarding the case,” the family spokesman said, adding that she was happy to cooperate with police in the investigation.
Madeleine vanished on May 3 from her bedroom in the Praia da Luz resort in the Algarve and the new evidence, which was found by sniffer dogs in the holiday apartment, could shed more light on the case.
“I can confirm that we have received part of the results and the team is satisfied (with the results),” said Portuguese police spokesman Olegario de Sousa.
The evidence was sent to the Forensic Science Service in Birmingham last month. Newspapers reported it included a sample of a speck of blood found on the wall of the McCanns’ holiday apartment.
A Briton living in Praia da Luz has been identified by police as the only suspect in the investigation and his house has been searched twice.

Ennit. Just a load of Drivel and sheer utter speculation without knowing one hard cold fact.
6 September, 2007 at 3:54 pm #286129Bad are you suggesting that evidence is required for this debate?
the case has been decided and closed and everyone has an out!
if she is found great! brilliant she goes home to mummy and daddy
but what about the ones who say they killed her? or took her??
theyve still got the “shouldnt of left them on their own in the first place” line
if she isnt found then theyve got the
“serves em right no sympathy for them” line
if!! it turns out that the parents have been involved then they can use the
“see i knew it” line
all bases covered
bad you have used this site long enough to know how they work surely
