So this effectively “stops” the search campaign for maddie, doesnt it. :?
I suspect that very very sadly the only answer is “Yes”. I think that most people believe that poor little Maddie (who is the REAL victim in all this) is actually dead.
The current suggestion is that the holy & self-righteous McCanns have some form of direct knowledge of this and their constant exhortations to keep on searching for Maddie (alive) is nothing more than a grossly cynical attempt to manipulate the Media and turn the spotlight away from their own alleged involvement.
To pick up on your other point Sharon (“Why did they [the Police] announce a month ago they had made “significant findings”) ….. as I understand it they discovered the blood and ”other ” stuff in the McCann’s hire car as well as forensic traces of a dead body having been in their apartment. However, the DNA results at that stage had not been received from the British labs.
It was only when the preliminary DNA evidence was made available and was presumably considered in the light of all the other evidence collected to date, that the police made their move.
That said … I haven’t read anywhere that the blood in the McCann’s hire car was ACTUALLY that of Maddie (i.e. proved by DNA profiling). It has been really strongly hinted at but the police haven’t made that specific statement.
However, it is reasonable to assume under the circumstances that they do have strong forensic (and other) evidence such that they are prepared to question BOTH McCanns for many many hours, in the full Media spotlight, and to formally announce to the world that they BOTH are now officially suspects.
I fully accept that there is a long way to go and that there are numerous facts of which we are totally unaware ….. but …. it also seems to me that the theory of a mystery and wholly unseen kidnapper is beginning to look less and less likely.
8 September, 2007 at 11:34 pm #286201Some media presenters keep saying “you cant believe how badly the macanns are being treated, first their daughter goes missing, and now there being questioned in relation of her death, what a terrible way the portugesse police are behaving in”, words to that effect.
Why havn’t the media any backbone in being nuetral?

Yes you’re right, self-evidently I am speculating – as indeed is everybody else who comments.
However, surely this is one of the joys of debate and of this type of ‘speculation’. After all if we waited for the certainty of a result on this (or other) matters, then it would be pretty pointless saying anything other than making bald factual announcements. Swapping opinions and discussing/debating is after all the essence of this type of message board eh?
BTW – I’ve often wondered why it is that the sainted and holy Mother McCann has such a hard expressionless look on her face all the time. She contrives to show no emotion at all
whatever the situation.Could it be that she is cold and heartless inside as well????
Yes. I was a bit drunk when I wrote that. Yes everyones entitiled to their opinion mate.
Even if that opinion is totally wild speculation, and a frenzied, salavating mob  trying to tear apart these people, and their characters. Also adding sarcastic comments and bestowing Saint Status on em.
Dont ya just love Democracy. :D  I do.9 September, 2007 at 12:27 am #286203@forumhostpb wrote:

Ah right. If this Forensic Evidence was so strong and watertight then why havent they been charged yet? Tabloid talk, and gossip.

The last part of your post seems a bit far fetched and unlikely.
I agree though that were still no further to finding the truth. Gonna have to wait, and see what forensic “evidence” there is.
I still cant see it. These are people who have been in the Media Spotlight since the day their Daughter vanished. This is a body were talking about. It’s not an easy thing to dispose of especially with a Media Circus camped around you.
This would have only left a few hours for them to bury a Body, concoct a story, and then to face the World , and tell the world that their Daughter had been taken, whilst holding it together knowing that they’d accidentely killed their Daughter.
No I still dont believe it.Bad… a wee snippet from Father McCanns own words….
Day 125 – 05/09/2007We were surprised to find increased media presence in Praia da Luz again today. We were followed down to church, then to the shops and back to our accommodation which is very unusual, apart from the build up to the 100 days. All the excitement seems to be over the results of the recent forensic tests that again have created a huge amount of speculation. There has been no official conformation that the report has been received, or what the tests suggest if anything!
Kate and I went for a run along the coast at lunchtime. It was pretty windy but still warm enough. Later in the afternoon we went to visit a friend of Kate’s who is on holiday in a nearby village with her family. They brought lots of cards from well-wishers at home and we talked a lot about the search for Madeleine. The twins had a great time splashing around in a little inflatable paddle pool, singing songs and being doted on by the older kids.
See they can freely have a wee drive without the press following….
Day 122 – 02/09/2007Another relatively quiet family day. My mum and sister arrived this morning after we had been to church. This afternoon we took the kids to a friend’s house with a pool. Kate and I went for a short run and then we all had a swim and a couple of treats brought all the way from Glasgow!.
Several people have been asking about whether they should still be putting up posters of Madeleine since I have said the campaign will be having a lower media profile- especially of Kate and I. The advice of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children is that high visibility of the missing child through posters, car stickers etc increases the chances of finding that child. Kate and I therefore would encourage you to continue taking posters on holiday and ask permission to have them displayed in supermarkets, post offices and shops.
another wee run away……
Fair play Mary Doll, but cmon.
They’d have been lucky take a sh.it without the press having a Camera in their faces. Theres a difference between having a wee drive away, and loading a Dead Body (where was the Dead body located that the Police didnt find it) into their boot, and dumping it without the press getting wind of it.

BTW – I’ve often wondered why it is that the sainted and holy Mother McCann has such a hard expressionless look on her face all the time. She contrives to show no emotion at all whatever the situation.
Could it be that she is cold and heartless inside as well?????
Got me started now, but hey…
What gives you the right to arrogantly wade into someone, and declare them cold and heartless. Ya dont know these people do you? A lot of people I’ve seen on have said they are caring loving parents who just made a mistake. Bloo.dy arrogance I’d say.

I’m not comfortable about the ”arrogantly wade into someone” bit, but what I am doing is expressing my opinion based on my own observation. Your right, of course, is to disagree with me.
I’ve watched her over and over again as she attained her world fame status in the Media as the ”people’s mother” and every time I see her she appears to be totally expressionless – no reaction facially at all, just that same cold hard stare.
Of course we can’t know what she is REALLY feeling inside, but I have often found that people’s faces are a gateway to their inner emotions. Maybe I could empathise more with her if she smiled or even cried, or looked even slightly sad or maybe distraught, but this blank expressionless look of hers is frankly a bit disturbing.
As for the McCanns being ”caring loving parents who just made a mistake” – frankly words fail me.
Actually they left their three defenceless children alone and totally unprotected in a strange (to them) apartment in a foreign country with the door unlocked. They could have had a babysitter … they could have taken them to the bar with them and stayed together as a family, but no …. such was the depth of their caring and loving that they just went off out with their friends for a good time and abandoned their children to whatever fate had in store for them.
BTW – people who commit crimes don’t ”just make a mistake”, they make a deliberate choice to do the act and afterwards try to wriggle out of their culpability with this idiotic excuse. We all have the opportunity to make choices in our lives – if you make a wrong (or criminal) choice then the consequences fall on you for making it.
9 September, 2007 at 8:20 am #286207And I guess if your child went missing you would have a smile the size of Australia wouldnt you…. :?: :D

Do you think the media is for some reason manned by androids Emma? Its manned with people, and people are majoratively trained to give knee jerk pavlovian responses to certain stimuli and scenarios, one very common brainwashed reactions is the outpouring of unquestionaing sympathy/empathy in situations like this meaning that for some people on topics like this objectivity, open mindedness and neutrality are impossibilities and they would probably try to cling to the belief it was done under duress even if the Mcanns made public confessions because they are brainwashed into being practically unable to absorb the reality that parents could ever do their own child harm no matter how often they see that it does happen as such acceptances of reality shake the very foundations of their being and are met with the same vehemence a devout believer would exhibit when faced with facts that question the basis of their religion as have been seen by some of the Mcanns defenders in the media and on here
People get far too caught up with professions and what the professions are proported to stand for and completely miss the fact that all professions are staffed by “people” with all the inherent flaws, indoctrinated belief systems and social conditioning that has been dripfed into their psychometry every second of every day from everything they have seen, learnt and heard since birth
