There is the old tale of the convict who appealed to the king for a reprieve by claiming that he could teach the royal horse to sing.

Intrigued, the King granted the convict his wish, but insisted that if the horse could not sing within one year, the convict would die.

The convict’s friend asked whether the king’s horse could be taught to sing…

“Don’t be silly”, came back the reply. “Horses can’t sing. But I have a year extra to live. In that time, the King may die, or the horse may die, or I may die, or – who knows – the horse may sing!”

Keep calm and do not invoke Article 50. In the time allowed before things get too rough, the EU may collapse, or UK opinion may change if our economy does badly, or the UK economy may thrive, or, who knows, the EU may change.

Whatever, we press the exit button when it’s in our interests to do so, not when the Europeans want us to.

Typical tories, taking no notice of what the majority want, this after holding a referendum that cost £142 000 000(yep lots of noughts) to prove what a fine upstanding democratic nation we are – not.

We live in a liberal democracy, not a plebiscitory democracy; in my opinion the campaign was a travesty of demoracy., and nobody gave a precise date when to leave.

But now we have to see what happens. It would be the height of madness to leave immediately, with no trade policy , much less a strategy. The British Civil Service have not negotated any trade deals for 40 years, and private enterprise doesn’t want to lend its people.

I hope we don’t leave, but Theresa May says Brexit means Brexit, but the deal has to be right before it goes ahead. No sense in plunging this country into a major recession by jumping first feet first. She is a very tough negotiator, and we have to see how it pans out.

In my humble opinion, there is much turmoil and coming and going over the EU ahead, and I’m sure we’ll see Farage again.
