No, we will not run out in the next few decades, there is oil to last us another 100 years, so say political anylists.
IT IS NOT HUMAN CREATED Co2 THAT IS “DESTROYING THE EARTH”.
It is the sun that is the prodomanent cause. We do not even know if the sun will destroy us, we have yet to find out. It didn’t happen in the past.
Go out and fill up your cars, book a long distance holiday, you are FREE from the terror of the fear mongers who blame you of “destroying the earth”.
Do you really believe everything you see on TV? C4 are in trouble over this nonesense. Prof Carl Wunsch who featured in the so called documentary is apparently furious that his views were ‘grossly distorted’ & has said he believed human activity is warming the climate. Durkin himself has already been found editing interviews to suit his agenda. In a series called Against Nature.
I know it’s hard to accept that views you hold are wromg but try being open minded about things. It is possible that human polution is not affecting the climate. But if it is don’t you think that to err on the side of caution is the wiser course. Or do you think that it’s not that important?
The only thing you are not free from is ignorance. Try asking questions now & then. Or are you as gullible as all your other posts suggest?14 March, 2007 at 12:30 am #263455@nogginthenog wrote:

Not at all, but i understand that you’re aware of that belief.
try being open minded about things.
Will you do so first?
It is possible that human polution is not affecting the climate.
No its not, human Co2 is affecting our climate, BUT, its miniscule in comparrison to what the sun’s doing.
But if it is don’t you think that to err on the side of caution is the wiser course.
If you think that just because millions of people voted for a political party or 4, that we should believe them because they provide scientists with great salaries, top class accomodation, and first class travel, to tell us were “destroying the earth”, that we must agree with them, so we can be taxed forever, then i pitty you.
IF human Co2 was the cause, or atleast a large slice of the cause, you would think our political masters would BAN the use of petrol, because we’d be “destroying the earth” if we didn’t.
You asked me to keep an open mind. Well, you go and get me some HARD evidence, from INDEPENDENT people who can prove humans are “destroying the earth” with Co2, and i’ll change my view.
Or do you think that it’s not that important?
Global warming and global ice age, is important, but unless you can direct the sun’s temperature elsewhere, nothing we can do.
The only thing you are not free from is ignorance. Try asking questions now & then. Or are you as gullible as all your other posts suggest?
There is a familiar merrygo round of new posters coming on here, seemingly desperate to put me down, after reading what ive been saying in the past.
Im getting all kinds of ignorant attacks. I wish they’d come out of the hatred closet.
Hold on, genie went quiet…hmm

I don’t hate you, or anyone else. I don’t even dislike you or what you say. I just wish you were a little more thoughtful. Everytime I read one of your posts it seems you think the rest of the world is wrong & only you (& the BNP) know the truth. You refuse to listen to anything that casts doubt on your convictions. I have no problem with this. What bothers me is that you refuse to think & consider any given situation.
How independent do you want the scientists to be? Carl Wunsch is professor of physical oceanography at MIT. He doesnt work for any government. As I have already said Martin Durkin has already been proved of dubious character. He has an agenda & some peope either refuse or are incapable of seeing this. Instead of basing your view on one TV programme try reading more, research a little. Even read the views you disagree with.
Do you have your own agenda do you work for an oil company? Is that why you refuse to consider that you may be wrong?14 March, 2007 at 11:15 am #263457@nogginthenog wrote:

…. or that Emma may well be right!
Unfortunately ‘scientists’ don’t have the monopoly on independence of thought, particularly in this currently fashionable area of ‘global warming’. As practically all of the preditions made rely on extrapolation from a selected set of facts, it is entirely possible to take the ‘facts’ of your choice and mathematically model a future outcome that supports your particular view.
Currently the bogey man of global warming is CO2. A little while ago it was CFC’s that were destroying the ‘environment’. Don’t you remember the shock and horror expressed when it was ‘discovered’ that releasing CFC’s from the compressors of fridges & freezers was destroying the ozone layer?
If you carefully read behind the scare headlines, it would appear that the major cause of global warming – in terms of gasses released into the atmosphere – is in fact not CO2 but is Methane. I read that Methane is many many times more ‘polluting’ than CO2 – but then there are no headlines to be had in taxing cows are there?
14 March, 2007 at 12:14 pm #263458I agree, it is a swindle! Global warming isn’t caused by humans and their CO2 emissions, it is merely because the world changes its climate every so often and these “intelligent” politicians are using this as an excuse to raise taxes with their so called “green tax” just to squeeze more money out of us fickle citizens.
Why raise taxes on flights when these aircraft are still going to fly anyway and the passengers will still use them. It’s all a big, fat con!
GRRRRRRRRRRRRR :evil:14 March, 2007 at 2:00 pm #263459Absolutely right Herman – and did you know that the London Borough of Richmond has recently imposed penal parking charges on the residents of all Richmond CPZ’s who (quite legally) own what are laughingly known as ”gas guzzlers” by the tree hugging fraternity.
They claim that this is to reduce global warming. Utter bollocks !!! It is simply an pretty poor excuse to raise local taxes so that they can spend it on increased allowances for themselves …. oh and the Mayor just HAS to have a new car doesn’t he??? Cost is £45,000 plus of course a chauffeur.
What they don’t tell you is that this additional penal charge applies to ALL motor vehicles over 4 years old – including small family saloon cars used only at weekends etc. But they just want to grab the green headlines as well as trouser a few thousand pounds in extra taxes.
So paying extra to park your car outside your own home is really going to make a difference to the world’s climate huh? Yeah, right, sure it is !!!!
14 March, 2007 at 2:28 pm #263460Totally agreed PB.
The street I live on has recently had parking meters installed and I have to pay an annual fee for my parking space…………..
Whether I have a car or NOT!!!!!
What a disgrace!16 March, 2007 at 1:01 am #263461@nogginthenog wrote:

Only “seems”. Nothing wrong in believing in one’s thoughts.
You refuse to listen to anything that casts doubt on your convictions.
I have provide the general public with my views, and i know theres a possibility someone like you could come back and change my mind. Im encouraging open debate.
How independent do you want the scientists to be? Carl Wunsch is professor of physical oceanography at MIT. He doesnt work for any government.
Who funds what he does/how does he earn a living?
Where/who does he get his information from?
Instead of basing your view on one TV programme try reading more, research a little.
Do you say this to those who believe humans are destroying the earth?
Do you have your own agenda do you work for an oil company?
I am 100 million % independent. I see the sun heating the earth every summer, i dont see humans doing so.
Is that why you refuse to consider that you may be wrong?
Who said i refuse, you…….you prove that we humans are destroying the earth, and i’ll jump on board.
Why is petrol legal if we are “destroying the earth”?
PB, thats THREE magnificent posts in a row ive read of yours.
Herman

16 March, 2007 at 11:37 am #263462Yes emma, each household is allocated two parking spaces and you have to pay an annual fee for these.
I don’t know whether this is a nationwide thing, however, I do live in a Tory run constituancy so maybe its them lot that have brought in this extra tax, I’m not too sure.16 March, 2007 at 1:54 pm #263463It really appears that politicians of ALL (mainstream) political parties have jumped on this ”green” bandwaggon. They all appear to see it as a way of raising taxes in a so-called populist way.
So let’s take the current big bogeyman … air travel.
Aviation currently consumes 2-3% of all fossil fuels burnt. To place this in context, the whole transportation sector uses 20-25% of all fossil fuel consumption.
Aircraft emissions of CO2 represent 2.4% of total CO2 emissions from the burning of fossil fuels or 2% of total man-made CO2 emissions; and It is projected that they will reach 3% of total man-made emissions of CO2 by 2050.
To date, aviation has had only a minor impact on the environment and continuous efficiency improvements areexpected to keep fuel-use growth rates to about three percent.
No other transport sector has continually improved its environmental performance to the same degree as civil aviation. Fuel consumption per passenger mile has been reduced by 70% over the past 40 years. Today’s passenger aircraft consume only half as much fuel per passenger mile compared with aircraft operating in 1976.
So how EXACTLY does imposing additional taxes on air travel ”save the environment”????
