I have posted another version of this here..and this version elsewhere. This is my absolute favourite so forgive me if I play it again and again..
From Dvorak’s Rusalka..ANNA NETREBKO – SONG TO THE MOON
Silver moon upon the deep dark sky,
Through the vast night pierce your rays.
This sleeping world you wander by,
Smiling on men’s homes and ways.
Oh moon ere past you glide, tell me,
Tell me, oh where does my loved one bide?
Oh moon ere past you glide, tell me
Tell me, oh where does my loved one bide?
Tell him, oh tell him, my silver moon,
Mine are the arms that shall hold him,
That between waking and sleeping he may
Think of the love that enfolds him,
May between waking and sleeping
Think of the love that enfolds him.
Light his path far away, light his path,
Tell him, oh tell him who does for him stay!
Human soul, should it dream of me, Let my memory wakened be.
Moon, moon, oh do not wane, do not wane,
Moon, oh moon, do not wane….

24 October, 2008 at 1:07 pm #358427I first heard JESUS BLOOD NEVER FAILS ME YET twenty odd years ago and was transfixed by it..yet only today did it occur to me to look for it on youtube.
Composed in 1971 by Gavin Bryars, the piece features an unknown tramp singing the verse of the title on a loop. Hell..let Gavin tell you himself HEREThen listen to the very moving JESUS BLOOD NEVER FAILED ME YET
Persevere till the strings and brass kick in..

Not sure about the relevance of the Scarlett Johansson montage on this link, but she’s certainly easy on the old eyes.
