Then along came the children….we started school….our parents felt they couldn’t rip us away from our birth country, and live in a country so different to England….
Personally I think the many many Asians I know have integrated well into society…maybe others think differently…..We have jobs..businesses…..
Won’t this be the case with the Easten Europeans in a few years time?The same could be said for me with a Jamican father.
And perhaps East Europeans will be fully accepted into this country in 30 years time or so.
But right now, they are in the spotlight, the scapegoats, “coming over here, taking all our jobs and housing, blah blah blah.”
If I had a pound for every time I heard that…
I would also like to add, Polish people coming to live and work in this country is nothing new – in fact it could be argued that without polish airmen in the RAF during WW2, then we might not have won the Battle of Britain.

Maybe it’s the frequency of my visits here this last day or two that is so shocking? :shock: Well, we can chalk that down to a form of cabin fever (manflu you see, awful thing).As for “sorting a few things out”, well, I’m afraid I’ve either completely lost the plot or nothing could be further from the truth.
I guess when it all boils down to it, all I’m asking for is a few answers to a few questions.. and maybe some subsequent clarification if needed? Because at this stage I’m mighty confused.

There are 1,000,000 Poles in the country. There are also 1,000,000 kids on the dole.
It isn’t a race issue – it’s an economic one that is impacting on us all. And the only racist debate that I’m aware of is the anti-British one that seems to be going around.
There was an underying reason why Gordon Brown took the route he did.
The building industry supports and stimulates growth in so many other industries. That was Brown’s reasoning. Create a demand for new builds by saturating the population.
Add to that his desire to drive wages down by flooding the jobs market with cheap labour.It’s not rocket science to see what Gordon Brown and the Labour Party were trying to do, but he did it at the expense of British people whose aspirations to better themselves took a serious battering.
The Labour Party got it wrong. And now we’re all suffering. It’s nothing to do with a recession – it’s to do with the misguided thought processes and call to action of Gordon Brown. His decisions have proved to be an economic disaster for this nation.

You know the sad truth is I totally understand the anger alot of English people feel…immigrants coming over here taking over their jobs blah blah blah…..I have been subject to more racism in the past say 7 years than I have in my whole 48 years of life…..lots of it from the chatroom where people can’t even see the colour of my skin….even Asianmale lays into me for not sticking up for him or myself on some comments I don’t feel are offensive but he does…. it disheartens me, constantly trying to defend myself for being in this country and being Asian….when I am told to p1ss off back to my country where am I to go?

The real problem is understanding why the financial system crashed and, most worrying, whether there’s a tendency for it to keep crashing, which is my fear (there’s been increasing evidence of that in the past 30 yrs). Then how do you move to a situation where we are much more secure in our social environment.
The nativist politics which blames it all on immigrants doesn’t even address the question – we can kick out everybody who seems ‘different’ and still end up in a financial catastrophe.
The problem isn’t Poles (here) or Afghans (in Greece) or gypsies (in France and Italy) – it’s a problem in the banking system, and we’d better see to it pdq.

Gordon Brown used the word “bigot” to put down the concerns of one voter who dared to question his policies.
That comment lost him an election.
