Football is becoming less accessible to the average family with the cost of being a supporter soaring year on year. Annually we see new shirts released for clubs and either a home or away strip for England. On top of that huge expense, tickets for both club and international matches are reaching an all time high with a home season ticket for Arsenal reaching £1850.
So then, are we the loyal England football supporters really the ones footing the bill for players huge weekly salaries, WAG shopping trips and above all Sven’s £13,000 a day wage until may 2007?
The FA’s turnover for 2004 was £206,145,000. Surely some of this money could be passed back to the fans instead of lining the pockets of the FA officials and funding the players and Sven’s luxury lifestyles. (Sven will actually have ‘earnt’ about £100 by the time you finish this.) What do you think? Are the FA ripping us off?

Blahparty.orgI take it your view of “football” does not extend outside the Premiership then as League 2 football certainly isnt less acessible- indeed it is often more so with many initiatives (kids for a quid etc) to persuade families to attend.
I now take my 10 year old to most home games, have a pie each n still have change from £30. I’d rather spend the money n see my son happy than p/ishing it up the wall on a Friday night bender.
What has Sven’s lifestyle, money etc got to do with it- many many sportsmen and women are paid extortionate amounts through media sponsorship, ticket sales, merchanidising, TV revenue etc. I don’t think anyone is worth £100,000 per week but if thats what the going rate is then good luck to them.
I wouldnt disagree the Premiership is moving away from grass roots support but there much much more to football than the Premiership
15 February, 2007 at 10:44 pm #260611I pay£ 400 a year to see brum have been going down years
But they are loseing surporters biig time laterly think its about £30 a game ………I no they do kids for a fiver and the next 5 home games there doing it for 20 notes
It dont help the fact there are so many who carnt aford to go week after week but in my eyes if they brought the cost down they would fill the ground
And when they sell the games to sky and its pi ssing down with rain and cold and a early kick off on a sunday morning ……….Well most would rather stay at home and watch it
But if they told sky to f00k off and half the ticket prices they would fill it witch means they have lost nowt
I personly think its a rip off now to watch football its only the love and passion of the game that keeps me going sunday proved that we only had about 15000 there if that …Now if they had said ok kids a fiver and say 20 notes a adult there would of been loads there
15 February, 2007 at 10:58 pm #260612If they told Sky to Fu.ck Off the English Game would go bankrupt.
Every club In England should get down on their knees and thank Sky because without their dosh the English League wouldent have half the good players it has today.15 February, 2007 at 11:06 pm #260613@Bad Manners wrote:

A perfect solution to the scourge that is football.

Blahparty.orgObvoiusly ur not seeing quality european footy all the time.
I’m a Liverpool fan so from an english point of view, i see more european football than any other fan in these isles. If u cant afford a season ticket, then shaddup moaning about it FFS.
Look at boltons replay against Ar senal in the cup,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,they must be tramps around there cos that stadium was more empty than sunnys…
However, no matter what the result is in the Nou Camp on weds, Anfield will be guaranteed to be rockin and rolling and i believe LFC will win there or draw 0-0, watch this space, cos Hermy is always right! -
