We cant rely on new labour and their conservatve, lib dem and green party friends. If we wana rule ourselves, we need to vote them out at every opportunity until and including the next euro election in 2009.

What the feck has that got to do with what I said Emma ?????????????????????

Because the EU make decisions, and we conform to them.

I know we’ve had lots of discussions on the pros and cons of the Euro and whether we should join, but this thread is not really about that.

What I’m wondering is to what extent the Euro is becoming an unofficial second currency in the UK. I live near Bath, which is a popular tourist destination and many shops, cafes etc. accept Euros. Is this the case in other tourist centres? What about London?

The “only” reason shops and cafe’s in England except Euro’s as a form of currency is because they make money on the exchange rates. Any excuse to make a few bob at the expense of the tourists.
