But his isn’t a theory.
Its just a series of observations about the way neo-liberalism is used, without any attempt to show whether those uses are coherent or not.
As a professor, he deserves to be taken seriously. It doesn’t make him an oracle, above criticism. I’ve known quite a few professors, and they’re not all as good as the title cracks them up to be (some are very good indeed).
If he wants me to take him seriously – or more to the point, if you want to show why you take him seriously, you need to argue it a bit further than saying he’s a professor. You need to show that his observations about the way people use neo-liberalism make sense.

I don’t need to do anything though do I Sceptical, because this thread is not that in-depth and your initial post on it is vague and confused. I have made my position perfectly clear. The unelected Commission driven EU is a neoliberal cartel and it its very core is the exploitation of cheap labor driven by competition and corporatism. I gave that view and backed it up with the views of a highly regarded expert in the subject.
2 November, 2017 at 3:10 pm #1077656oh, but ge,
you need to explain why the ‘expert’ is is not confused when discussing neo-liberalism if you want to defend your argument. If you just want to plough on regardless, then you’ve no need to do anything other than put a bucket on your head and keep going.
My point is that neo-liberalism is a swear-word which fits in for anything vaguely capitalist or free-trade or global which we don’t like.
Your ‘expert’ made some observations on neo-liberalism which don’t seem to be very coherent. I explained why, and wait to hear why the ‘expert’ has got it right.
As your ‘expert’ isn’t here to defend himself, then as you’re the one who’s seeking his support, you would need to show why he is coherent.
A neo-liberal cartel!! Drac pointed out that that’s a contradiction n terms, but not if neo-liberal is just another word for ‘bloody’.
Neo-liberal is a concept which started in Germany before Hitler came to power to mean the social market economy. It’s been adopted by semi-Stalinist French academics and been taken up by national-socialists. Now it’s just used widely and very, very loosely, as can be seen here.

Therefore, I suggest we join the USA and limit the like of Draculina`s ability to vote who seems to be fluid when it comes to definitions!!
My manifesto would include giving men 2 votes to the ladies 0.5 and an automatic no-vote for public sector workers, businessmen, benefit seekers, single mums and pets.
The vote would be done on late March 2018 and would involve kicking the TOOSH out of anwhere east of France. That`ll show em
2 November, 2017 at 4:03 pm #1077665Sceptical,
Sitting here drinking my coffee, relaxing after long hours, well you, drac and Ge are certainly teaching me some views of your political process.. interesting.
As politics can be rather a difficult discussion in first place, major party holders for us are Democrats, Republicans, Conservatives, working families. I really never understood conservative views as basically little tighter squeeze on things, control if u will, have same views as Republicans in my opinion..
Working class views my opinion both major party lines…dems. and reps.
Now tell u something real interesting, and is a fact, god to honest truth..
I live in a democracy, freedom of speech and so forth…..
Never ever wanted to be beholden to any group. Since 20 years of age, I am an Independent…..big differance… I can vote in my local elections, boards,
when the big cheese of u.s.a. I can not as not recognized party, allowed to vote..
Figure that one out. Heeeeeeee..and I am borned, raised and full red, white, blue American…..I am considered a unregistered voter……heeeeeee…..

I am not explaining anything to you in detail Sceptical, while you keep moving the goalposts, because you keep posting anti Brexit fake news about an imaginary economic Armageddon and changing the date when this will occur, to suit your particular anti Brexit stance. However you don’t actually back it up with the detail you are now requesting yourself. When you do I will go into more detail.
Please don’t quote Draculina to me either, according to her Hitler was a ‘socialist’ and Nazism is socialism.

It is so odd is is the norm in school/colleges and universities to quote sources and throughout the education sector and just about every other sector in our society that is reliant on evidence and opinion from experts. Just because Sceptical behaves like a school teacher on these boards it doesn’t mean we have to respond to him as if he is one.

2 November, 2017 at 6:57 pm #1077679Ruthless,
I read opinions of others, and always say, learn new something every day..
I do not live my life at google. 90 percent of my time in growth through learning is in books, many of them, or those whose experiences and thoughts shed some better light to understanding..
As I read ur comments as well, your comment has a bite of a bitter taste..
When people put up threads most often those of personal interest and perhaps maybe of others.
When someone puts up a music thread, do we call them a musician, or artist. When one does poems, do we call them a recognized poet. When someone puts up a thread of i.q. do we say he is a scientist, when one puts up a joke, do we call them a comedian. When one puts up weight loss, do we call him a personal trainer? Get my meaning.
So scep.’s thread is no different. If he wanted to say he was a teacher, or Professor, he would imply his opinions as such..
Drac’s opinions, own, and so was Milkman’s.
So now we know your opinion. Did I like it, read it. Did I understand ur reason to kick a thought to France, no. Did ur’s teach me something, not think so.
