I had the misfortune of reading one of the Sunday tabloids today. I normally avoid tabloids since they are usually full of utter crap. I blame the tabloids for poisoning the minds of people in this country. The only left-wing tabloid is the Mirror but that’s full of banal gossip about celebrities. All the other national tabloids are right-wing and they all seem to want to out-do each other in being the most jingoisitic. The amount of sh1te in those papers is staggering. It’s all bigoted, prejudiced, xenophobic, nonsense.
I sometimes wonder why some people hold such chauvinist opinions and reading a tabloid today reminded me why. The tabloids just reinforce the prejudices that some people hold and when they sensationalize those stereotypes then the papers become more popular to those inclined to think that way. Of course, all these tabloids condemn the far-right and racist attacks etc, but they’re the ones unwittingly encouraging people to think like right-wing extremists.
Apart from the crap about who’s sleeping with who, the rest of these papers is comprised of propaganda. It’s a litany of intolerance and bigotry. If more people stopped buying these sh1tty tabloids then attitudes in our country might become more enlightened.

I stopped buying newspapers years ago for the very reasons mentioned above.

I would say so – they spend so much time dictating to the government about what they should do with all ther campaigns and trying to get people fired.
We can’t complain about the government – we voted them in. :(
