We had a new fish and chip shop open in town recently and I have to say they do the best fish and chips I’ve tasted in a long time. They chip their own potatoes, whereas a lot of the local chippies buy them in ready chipped from a catering company, they make their own batter and the (skinned) fish is dipped in front of you. Everything is freshly cooked to order and not sitting in baskets or glass cabinets for who knows how long – you have to wait a little longer but it’s worth it.
At first people were wary, thinking it wouldn’t be that good…after all the owner is Turkish, what do they know about cooking good old British fish ‘n’ chips? A lot more than the local British-owned chippies it seems!
