The Big Sick

I watched this romantic comedy last night, apparently the movie is based on true events. I really enjoyed it, it’s about a man from Pakistan who lives in America and is a up and coming stand-up comedian.

He meets an American girl at one of his stand-up shows but things are a little difficult as he loves her but even though she has spoke to her own parents about him, his family cultural beliefs are completely against this as his mother is always trying to find him a Pakistani wife to settle down with, and when she learns that she has been kept a secret from his family this breaks the relationship.

After the break-up the girl (Emily) gets a serious infection which means she is in a coma, so at this stage Kumail gets to know the girls parents a lot more as they are by her side each day in and out of hospital.

The Big Sick was a really enjoyable movie with a few funny moments, well worth a watch imo.
