What is that 4 miles per hour?

I can walk faster than that.

    What a joke !!!!!!!!!!

Without actually taking away the fact that he did it…… CONGRATULATIONS!!!!…… DOA does have a slight point.

Many years ago I took part in the Rotterdam marathon completing it in a time of 4 hours 39 minutes. I ran just over half the marathon without stopping and then it was a combination of jogging and walking……. and as you can imagine… the longer the contest went on the more the walking replaced the running.

So how far did you “run” before your marathon actually turned into a Sunday afternoon stroll.. :?:

And I wouldnt like to be your legs today. Stairs are a killer…..

DOA it doesnt matter if it took him 6 hours or six days, the fact remains that he did it and raised money for a charity at the same time.

Yes I agree Bat. Its really pretty mean to make this sort of unwarranted, unpleasant and unnecessesary criticism.

The Deputy Head of my daughter’s school was also running in this marathon and he has trained for months to do it. He managed a time of just over 5 hours.

As Martin said previously, he has never done this sort of thing before and running (or even fast walking) for some 26 miles in the heat yesterday takes a lot of doing.

Whatever the time taken, it was done to help others and THAT is the point. Well done indeed.

    congratulations martin. =D> =D> =D>

Then he should have done a sponser pub crawl !!!!!

And he still could have raised money for a charity at the same time.

You people are part of the “pc wishly washy no hopes” who beleave that verything is ok has long its for “charity”

The London marathon is a run not a walk. Its a challagen, not a bloody fun run !!!!

You people make me sick !!!!!

    6 hours , what a joke.

    Hey Doa

I tell you what, you enter the Marathon in 2008 and we’ll see what time you make. I am sure you will get well under six hours and we can congratulate you for doing so.

The London marathon, along with the New York marathon, are more interested with the quantity of runners they get rather than the quality, quite simply because they want to be seen as the biggest and most extravagant marathon organisers on the planet.

The other countries and cities of the world who are less obsessed with being the biggest demand that all runners should be able to run a marathon in under 5 hours or they discourage you from entering. In fact, if you do enter and take longer than 5 hours to complete the course your time will not be recognised.

It makes great TV watching all these unfit heroes crossing the line, staggering around and claiming it was all done in aid of charity but none of them should be able to claim they “ran” a marathon when all they did, in the main, was walk the distance.

But of course they should be congratulated. After all…. if you’re not fit it isnt easy walking 26 miles .. 8)

Even one person died after completing the marathon. Thats bad news that, if you think about it.

Whos gonna collect all her sponsers in now

There was I guy who worked with me back in 1990 who ran it.

He was 51 years old and his wife had just died of cancer.

He train 4 hours a day, rain or shine 7 days a week for a year.

He finishes in 3 hours 44 mins.

But he was committed to it and knew what he was running for.

Their always-high demand for places in the London marathon and standard where high and you run it.

It’s not a bloody sponsor walk.

Ands its like most things, if your not prepare to work at it and train, just not bovver.
