The smile on my grandfather’s face when I visited him in hospital. By that time he was practically blind and deaf and so weak he could barely move and I sat and held his hand and stroked his face as I let him know I was there…apparently it was the first physical contact he’d had other than a bed bath for over 3 weeks…
Having been given several bunches of flowers at the end of trading one Saturday, knowing I had far more than I could possibly put in vases at home, stopping and giving bunches to strangers on my way home and watching their faces turn from distrust to joy when they realised they truly were free and “just because”. One old lady at the bus stop burst into tears and said she hadn’t had flowers since her husband died…needless to say I stopped and chatted for a while.
The beaming smile of a special customer when I worked out a way that she could do something she dearly wanted to do but coldn’t afford in a way that wouldn’t injure her pride and allowed her to give something in return.
Watching the sunrise and sunset on a small island in the Indian Ocean.
The look on a very special person’s face… :D
