Shiny happy people !
That song always reminds me of a friend I lost touch with a while back. He was an ex-soldier and had a complete mental and emotional breakdown with PTSD being a contributing factor. He’d been sectioned and wasn’t doing well at all, he just sat in the ward in his own little world, not communicating with anyone. This song was in the charts and was on the radio several times a day.
The breakthrough came when one day he sat there with tears streaming down his face. The nurse, not expecting a response, asked him why he was crying and he looked into her eyes and said “I want to be a shiny happy person just like you”. That was the beginning of a long journey to recovery and every time I hear that song I think of him.
