A very balanced, rational and well expressed objective piece Skeptic ☺ – and yes the voting system needs much reform Draculina – are you aware of the Electoral Reform Society? peace Comrade
Thank you, oracle.
But people (rightly, in my view) rejected electoral reform in a referendum back in 2011. I don’t see tht on the agenda again for some time.

I’m aware of them, but I don’t agree with any of their ideas. STV is my favorite voting method, but they want to replace local MPs with a regional blocks of representatives. I can’t see what the purpose of doing this would be. I think it would instead be better to apply this concept in a replacement for the house of lords.
Edit:
Using STV to elect MPs would be nice, but I don’t see any reason to change how MP seats are allocated.

I do feel that Corbyn is going to get crucified, despite attempting (rightly) to lead a strong Labour, social welfare campaign.
He’s refusing to mention Brexit, and is relying on the anti-establishment mood which led to Brexit, to Trump’s victory and to the popularity of Le Pen and Mélenchon. That mood isn’t really there in the UK now – it was last year, when Brexit was voted, but now people are wanting a safe pair of hands at the helm in what everybody sees as a very dodgy moment after Article 50.
When Corbyn talks about the need to build a new economy, he looks like a clergyman, or a decent school teacher rather than someone you would trust to build a new economy. He can’t dodge Brexit – the Tories will kill him over it. Brexit is about how strong the economy is going to be on which hospitals and schools can be paid for, and dodging the issue is just going to add a feeling of dishonesty to the one of incompetence.
