Black and White spring to mind. On subjects like this you have to look at both sides and not storm in with 1 side. Gyps has a very good point, i dont think fat people should be taxed same as thin people. Drivel says fat people over indulge….not all. Thin people choose not to eat self inflicted right? NO both are bad both are killers both cost tax payers money and both KILL. Be open minded with this subject as there are 2 sides to every story just make sure you know both before you come out with “know it all sh!t”

To be fair Gyps the thread was about excess fat not anorexia
I would imagine that the majority of fat people are fat due to over indulgence , and could really do something about it if they were bothered
I have no idea how you would battle anorexia , it is obviously close to your heart with your daughter
Are you suggesting though that all people who are fat , have the same kind of problems as anorexics – but in the opposite way ???I know what the thread is about Driv and I feel my point is relevant in that why just tax people who are fat when thin people can cost the NHS just as much time and money?
I wouldn’t tax people – that’s rather a silly and unworkable idea
I’d just like to see people make more of an effort to look after themselves and stay healthy – but I suppose that’s a matter of personal choice !!

That’s fair enough comment Driv, and I agree with you to an extent, but the thread is about taxing the fat, and I was merely pointing out that thin people can cost the tax payer just as much in time, money and effort as fat people.

if you are going to quote me – please quote me correctly – I said that I imagine “most” fat people over indulge – not all
What has 2 sides to every story got to do with that ?

Why is it that society finds fat people accetable? If a person in magazines or on TV is slim we moan about creating a bad image for young girls, but when fat people appear in public, we congratulate them and tell them how good the are, so we condone fatness, making young people think that being fat is right. Double standards again, no thin people more fat people thats the message we are sending. It is not ok to be overweight, it costs us money and people loose lives. Human rights seem to sway us into accepting fatness and never being negative about it. I think we SHOULD tax the fat!!
:-k
Did you ever hear that people who sit in judgment and attack people based on something as minute as looks, usually have their own, more serious issues with themselves and project that on to others? So instead of your siggy that says the glass is half full, maybe you should look inward and think why you’re so full of yourself to think you’re better than others based on appearance. It’s obvious to me that you’re not a very happy or well-rounded person if you can’t accept people for the way they are. Is it really any your business? If you’re so happy with your life, than why worry about strangers weight issues? But that’s just my humble opinions of course.“Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves.”

I wish you would read my posts properly
I’m not for taxing people – it’s an impossible task – just saying people should take more care of their bodies – it’s the only one they are likely to get7 August, 2006 at 5:47 pm #233807well its weird this! very weird indeed!! not one person who is overwieght or under weight on this site is down to eating wrongly!
its all conditions isnt it!im about half a stone underweight for my height, my problem is? i eat little thats all, and im out and about alot i snack as opposed to eating proper balanced meals!

i just wish more people would accept the fact that most and i say and mean MOST overweight people are that way becase they eat too much of the wrong thing and they dont exercise enough
