Why is it that society finds fat people accetable? If a person in magazines or on TV is slim we moan about creating a bad image for young girls, but when fat people appear in public, we congratulate them and tell them how good the are, so we condone fatness, making young people think that being fat is right. Double standards again, no thin people more fat people thats the message we are sending. It is not ok to be overweight, it costs us money and people loose lives. Human rights seem to sway us into accepting fatness and never being negative about it. I think we SHOULD tax the fat!!
So who would you exactly tax? The fat person who hasn’t visited their doctor for years? Or the fat person on cancer killing drugs who is getting treatment through the NHS?

7 August, 2006 at 11:47 am #233783Im not saying tax the fat as i think that people who are fat do pay for it in the long run, they generally die younger, so therefore put the family through heartache and they spend more on shopping, so in a way they get their own tax.
if someone has an eating disorder, be it greeed or a medical reason for putting on weight then obviously that isnt their fault, but neither is bltching about people in magazines who look skinny
i actually do agree that bigger people get so annoyed at the weight thing yet do nothing about it, and i find it hard to believe that EVERY person on this thread who is kicking off has a medical condition
there is a programme on television soon about a fat beauty pagaent!
now before anyone has a go at the likes of miss world, the miss world contestants dont look underweight, they look healthy they take pride in themselves and want to look good, they eat correctly and exercise correctlythis chubby pagaent thing is celebrating obesity i suppose and sending out the wrong message!

I thought it was a spoof for a while.
I’m also big and before this year had not been near the NHS for nearly 10 years. I feel quite comfy with my size but know that if I was seriously worried about it I could try and get it down but if my weight is the only thing I have to worry about in life I’m a very lucky woman.
My mother is overweight due to medication. She’s diabetic and has a very healthy lifestyle. Whether you like it or not, you deal with the body life gives you.
As for taxing us, I weigh about 13 stone – the same as a tall average weight man – why should I be taxed and not him? If you are naturally a size 6 and weigh only 6 stone, should you get a refund?
I would also like to say that up to about 7 years ago I was average weight but childbirth, gravity and middle age have taken their toll. That’s my body doing what it does naturally. You do not know what is in your future. How do you know that you won’t be on the receiving end of this tax one day – through life choice or illness or having to take steroids for example.

It’s not your body doing what is natural at all
Gravity and middle age do not have to take any toll at all . If you are willing to eat healthily do some aeorbics etc then you can stop the decline in its tracks
No pain – no gain – or loss as it may be in this case !!!
