    Ge

I am finding it extremely amusing indeed that Blair is now repeating comments I have made on this very site some time ago and which were described on this very site as “bullshit” by the resident Remain drone.

“The single market being, essentially, a creation of the Thatcher administration in the 1980s.”

The creation of the single market was considered to be one of Mrs Thatcher’s biggest achievements during her leadership of the Conservative Party.

Therefore Badder a “socialist” supports a Thatcher creation. That creation being the EU in its present ‘guise’ and that single market Thatcher created.

No, Thatcher didn’t create the Single market.

The Single Market was created by the EU, and opposed by Thatcher as an invasion of national sovereignty. It was her opposition to the Single Market which led directly to her downfall.

Her change of heart on the Single Market, from support to opposition, is here

I have no idea what you’re talking about when you mention Blair repeating comments made by you. I don’t understand your code, whihc shifts a lot.

I’m not a Corbynista btw, but that does not mean I support New Labour economics.

I prefer the views of Tony Blair on this subject, the most successful labour leader in history, (I despised him) than some JC gobshite.

    Just saying.

    ;-)

Edit: Who posts a link to the “FT” which has a paywall….We have been here before… Cretin.

That’s not news to me, Ge, nor does it bother me.

I don’t prefer Blair’s views to anyone here – I liked the comment of Zbigniew Brzezinski, the US National Security Advise under Carter. When asked his views on Blair, he said, “I despise him. I don’t dislike him. But, I despise him. Yes, I despise him”.

Given all that, Blair’s analysis of the Brexit political situation is often spot-on. Shame he’s the Kiss of Death to any proposal he supports

Apologies – I didn’t realise that it had a paywall.

David Willetts was saying that Thatcher had a deep enthusiasm for the Single Market, whihc was supported by the  Tory Arthur Cockfield as an EU commissioner. Neewly  released Cabinet paper show her enthusiasm. For various reasons which I’m sure you know (or maybe not?) she changed her mind and sacked Cockfield

    Ge

I am only interested in commentary of what is happening in the real world as narrated by “players” such as Tony Blair who helped shape that world. Whether I agree with him, or whether I don’t.

The parachuted in to labour safe seats centre right liberals Chuka Umunna’s of this world have achieved NOTHING in politics other than to keep Corbyn out of power in the last election with their constant sniping and their constant attempts to put one of their own in charge.

Can you imagine going on a dinner date with Q, lol.

“Who did you vote for in the last election, Q?”

    “Vote?”

Silent pause as he takes several minutes to think up a joke a seven year old could have written.

    “Where do polar bears vote?”

    “where?”

    “The North poll.”
