The People’s Republic of China has eradicated the pneumonic plague from most parts of the country, but still reports occasional cases in remote Western areas where the disease is carried by rats and the marmots that live across the Himalayan plateau. Outbreaks can be caused when a person eats an infected marmot or comes into contact with fleas carried by rats. A 2006 WHO report from an international meeting on plague cited a Chinese government disease expert as saying that most cases of the plague in China’s northwest occur when hunters are contaminated while skinning infected animals.[5] The expert said at the time that due to the region’s remoteness, the disease killed more than half the infected people. The report also said that since the 1990s, there was a rise in plague cases in humans—from fewer than 10 in the 1980s to nearly 100 cases in 1996 and 254 in 2000.[6] Official statistics posted on the Chinese Health Ministry’s Web site showed no cases of plague in 2007 and 2008.[citation needed] In September 2008, two persons in east Tibet died of pneumonic plague.[7]

The most recent outbreak of the disease in China began in August 2009 in Ziketan Town located in Qinghai Province and is an ongoing situation. The town has been sealed off and so far three people have died as a result of the disease.[5][8] According to spokesperson Vivian Tan of the WHO office in Beijing, “In cases like this [in August 2009], we encourage the authorities to identify cases, to investigate any suspicious symptoms among close contacts and to treat confirmed cases as soon as possible. So far, they have done exactly that. There have been sporadic cases reported around the country in the last few years so the authorities do have the experience to deal with this.

3 people died OH MY GOD

    Tom

That’s called propaganda Pete old boy.

Didn’t even bother reading it because I know it’ll be some liberal wishy washy stuff pretending the Chinese hug Tibetan babies and shower Tibet with flowers and money.

They created it in a lab. It’s a mutant strain, it has been proven. This particular strain does not occur naturally in that part of the world. Several Tibetan towns are sealed off by their Chinese oppressors after releasing the plague upon them.

It’s well known fact the Chinese want to ethnically genocide the Tibetans. They’ve been doing it years, now they’ve found a faster way. Just unleash a deadly plague on them that kills within 24 hours.

But of course, like any other brainwashed liberal fool, you’ll rather listen to the BBC and hide behind your sofa when ever someone says they have a headache incase it’s the Swine Flu. Let’s ignore the fact that thousands of Tibetans are currently having their lungs melting inside their chests dying of a horrible, excruciating inhumane pain at the hands of China’s new chemical warfare weapon and Chinese sympathizers who make up excuses for them such as you via the BBC.

(they mutate and develop different strains ffs and typed by Tom does not equate to proven) This particular strain does not occur naturally in that part of the world. But of course, like any other brainwashed liberal fool, you’ll rather listen to the BBC (I dont listen to BBC or ITN or Sky News and i’ve had swine flu possibly didnt bother me, again it’s the second “wave” if it occurs that be the killer) and hide behind your sofa when ever someone says they have a headache incase it’s the Swine Flu. Tom

I’m not quite sure how you got that I’m sympathising with the Chinese from my posts :? thought I made it quite clear I was criticising and condemning their actions in Tibet.

I see I’m the only one who has grown up here, I’m really rather disappointed. Martin has done a great job here reforming JC, I thought it had finally grown up enough for me to come back where I can unwind and have a chit chat about things without people living in the past.

I’m really quite sorry I was wrong. I shan’t troll with you though old chap, I’ll leave you to you arguing with yourself. If you can’t be civil I’ll just start ignoring you, looks like I’ll have to be the mature one between us and take the high ground. Quite silly really considering you’re twice my age.

Ah agree with Tom or he’ll spit the dummy out ? I never said you were sympathising i said the Chinese arent dosing tibetans with pneumonic plague. They wont give Tibet back they cant be made to they’re too powerful, why would they need to commit genocide.
Chit chat can involve a differing opinion Tom and can also involve one person telling the other the’re talking rot and putting “facts” to support that.

    Hmmm interesting.

There are only 2 certainties in this world – Life & death.
