Certainly, failing to qualify is always followed by t’boot. He’s going to need to get past the quarters to survive, I think.

I’m constantly amazed by the red tops in a similar way to that which has already been mentioned. There was a gem of a quote on Radio5 yesterday: Sven Caught Telling Truth Shock!

Why would a newspaper who supposedly supports England’s cause deliberately set out to cause friction and division in the England camp? :? In as u say a World Cup year. This is scum journalism of the lowest kind.

Why would our England manager say terrible things about England players who will try and win the world cup? Should he be allowed to get away with it? Why isnt his proffessionalism, 100% behind our players? Does he care about our players? He should resign like a REAL gentleman.

Well done to those who exposed him, because theres no way he would`ve told us the truth on football focus…

Qualified as a top seed, finished top of group with 2nd best record in the whole of Europe

Not exactly a record of failure is it

Loosing to minows of around the 100th in the world is failure, but i take your point, qualifying is the be all.

Hes brought disgrace on our nation. He is an ambassordor to the English people. We pay him vast sums of money to behave decent, and he failed miserably.

When freddy shepard (newcastle chaiman) did similar, he was booed by newcastle fans, he then had to appologise like a decent man should.

The F.A, have carte blanche to sack this expensive traitor.

Comparing Sven to Freddy Shepherd is a tad OTT don’t you think emma?

england have the players to win the world cup, it does’nt need a world class manager

just somone to reliese that hargreaves is’nt an international footballer, and we will be fine

the team and the tactics i think pick themself

though myself, from my experiance at championship manager

would have rio, sol and terry at the back

neville and cole as wing backs

gerrard, beckham and lampard in the midfield

and owen and rooney up front, rooney off the striker

not sure if this has been tried by sven yet? i might be wrong?

Nobody wanted it when they appointed Hoddle, who had never done anything of note, and to be fair when he took the helm he didn’t do a bad job. His off field antics lost him the ‘top job’.

I agree with Geoff, Hoddle was a good manager, young enough to still be in the job for the next ten years, got some cracking results (Everyone remember the Italy game away when we needed a point to qualify for 98?) Thought we had a real chance in France, if it wasn’t for that numpty Graeme le sauxs abysmal back pass against Romania we would have had a nice easy game against Croatia instead of the Argies, although we were unlucky in that game.

If Sven goes, i’d like Hoddle back in, but would he take it? if he doesn’t why not give the reigns to Stuart Pearce, the man is full of passion, been there and done it at the highest level. So called big football countries have appointed managers with no experiance, look at Germany now with Klinsman, Holland as well have appointed past players with no experiance, maybe it’s time we threw caution to the wind and give it to someone who genuinely cares about footy.

Sven has done what he was paid to do and that’s ensure England qualify however I do agree his actions off pitch and his private life have been less than discreet and his judgement has not always been a good one. I agree an apology or explanation would have been appropriate and whether “stung” or not, discussing players and his future intentions whilst still under contract was damaging to his reputation
