Regardless of whether this girl was 13 or not, is this form of ‘justice’ acceptable? Is it any of our business to judge how other people and other cultures dispense justice?
I am sure most of us find this story sickening but what realistically can the West do to intervene in a failed state such as Somalia? Is there any viable solution to preventing this kind of sentence being carried out again in the future?
4 November, 2008 at 4:12 pm #386325This is nothing but sheer barbarism, sickening, foul unimaginable cruelty from people little removed from neanderthal in their thinking.
If American and Uk Governments MUST insist on policing the world – and they do arbitrarily under false pretext and damned lies – then they should turn their attentions to storming in where it matters and laying down the law to the ignorant, stupid and downright wicked.
This arena in Somalia would have been a good place to start.5 November, 2008 at 4:53 pm #386326Frankly I think theres little we can do about this. This is the way these people live thier lives. It doesn’t make it right, not in the eyes or hearts of any free thinking person, but these people are not free thinking.
I do though, think it should make us all aware of the ethnic cultures in our communitys who wish to bring this ‘Sharia Law’ here. Or how long will it be before we witness these kinds of atrocities in our own town squares
5 November, 2008 at 4:58 pm #386327The country where it happened say it was acceptable and served the punishment. We don’t stone people here, but our country has a history of slavery and death penalty.
So many busy bodies want to interfear in other countries business, let them get on with it.5 November, 2008 at 5:01 pm #386328@justhere wrote:

History yes,,,,,people accepted it was wrong and it was stopped! We can’t change the cultures of other countries and it’s pointless even trying. We can though, and we should, prevent it happening here!
If by saying that, that we should prevent it here, makes me a busybody, then i’m happy to be one thanks
