My daughters both loved waching him And i remeber the one day my youngest had a test
she got 20 out of 20 because of a prgram she had seen with him in it about snakes
We could walk out the door and be hit by a car no one nos whas round the corner but in my eyes what he did was great
And im sure there are many more who feel the same
He died as im sure he would have loved with the animals he loved and helped
5 September, 2006 at 7:28 pm #240176Becky..regarding badmouthing the dead..pointing out their faults etc. It’s a strangely British absurdity that the dead should be afforded plaudits they were often never given whilst alive. Hypocritical bullshyte. All this public outpouring of ‘grief’ needs to be seen in perspective. Allow the actual family of Steve Irwin to mourn their loss without hi-jacking their sorrow.

So paying respects is hijacking? How is that please? And he was praised in life as in death. All i am pointing out is how sad it is to come on a thread and “hijack” it in a pathetic way when all people are doing is stating their feelings on it how do you work out all that cr@p?
5 September, 2006 at 8:37 pm #240179Becky..I ‘work out all that crap’ from a neutral and intellectual perspective in that ‘I may not agree with your views but I fight to the death for your right to express them.’ If this is indeed a thread for people to express their feelings at the death of Steve Irwin..then Peeved’s views are as relevant to the thread as are yours. Some see Irwin as a hero..some as a fool. Not a time for crocodile tears. If you believe it unfair to be accused of hi-jacking the family sorrow..consider the injustice of accusing Peeved of hi-jacking this thread. Steve Irwin’s death is sad. His family must be devasted. Shyt happens!!!
You are entitled to your views…as is Peeved..as am I.6 September, 2006 at 7:15 am #240180@peeved wrote:

With all due respect..I hardly think Steve Irwin’s family are rushing to read the JC boards at this time. I think you’re being hard on Peeved who is entitled to an opinion whether it agrees with your own sentiments or no. Interestingly..Chris Packham [wildlife expert] makes much the same point as Peeved vis-s-vis the foolhardiness of handling dangerous animals in the way that was the signature of Steve Irwin, whilst admiring the man for his conservation work. I can also understand why Peeved should find the outpouring of ‘grief’ questionable for someone we have only seen on television…yes it’s sad..but it’s hardly a death in the immediate family. I was one of the first to contribute to the Steve Irwin thread when I heard of his death yesterday. I find ANY life cut short..a tragedy..but I am not about to pretend that it is the end of the world. If we all looked to our friends..our neighbours..the lonely wee lady up the street..rather than strangers on a
television screen..the less the world would revolve on ‘celebrity’ and the healthier we would be for it :!:Yes he dealt with dangerous animals but he WAS NOT killed by 1, experts say that the stingray which killed him are known for being placid. Yes he knew what he was doing was dangerous but a lot of jobs are this was his livelyhood and his passion who are we to judge. He his family etc arent asking for to feel sorry for the way he died because it was bound to happen so again who are WE to judge. And yes peeved might have some points but THIS thread was for paying our respects not bad mouthing the dead. You dont find out anyone has died and then sit there pointing out alllllllllllllllllll thier faults. He did so much good for wildlife and most i had no idea on untill he died and thats a shame. No one judge police or firemen when they die, they knew there was risks in their job. Different kind of job yes but you are pointiong out dangers. I hope he reste in piece he was a nutter in my eyes but a genius one and a passionate one!
Utter tosh.
