In the news today is the sad story of the missing architect Joanna Yates. Joanna it seems has been abducted or worse.
I know there has not been any positive link to the Internet suggested as yet and hopefully Joanna will be found soon. But gosh this reminds me so much of the case of Claudia Lawrence who also disappeared on her way home from work in York a few months ago. Claudia it was established used internet chat rooms.
I dont go in the chat room here much but I appeal to the women who do not to be flippant regarding their privacy and information that could identify their location etc.
Not everyone is a nice person, both the women who have disappeared are intelligent attractive women if it is that they met a bad person in a chat room they obviously thought he was OK.
This is a serious note for Christmas I know but stay safe, and have a good Christmas.

24 December, 2010 at 11:46 pm #457754Not the cheeriest post for Christmas but worth reading I think. It`s true everything that has been said but it`s also true that you can meet safely.
You could meet someone in a bar and be just as much at risk in my opinion. though I do agree that to meet someone of the internet merits a lot of careful thought, where, how, when, why etc.
We all know the rules…. meet in a public place, tell someone where you`re going, make sure you can get home under your own steam and so on.To be fair I think meeting someone of the net, generally, sure it`s a risk, but (and I am NOT being flippant here) so is crossing the road.
Let someone know if you want to meet, give them enough details, for example a rough area where you`re meeting, who, when, and maybe call them before and after meeting.
The reason it makes the news is because, thankfully, it`s not common, and I think with some planning, thought and care it`s possible.
25 December, 2010 at 6:27 am #457755I met my fiancé online! I just made sure that when I met him I told people where I was going and who I was meeting. I even gave my mum his mobile number lol! They say the social networking sites which pinpoint your exact location if you want them to are going to be a stalkers dream now! Joannas disappearance does echo that of claudias.
Sorry for typos but using iPhone and struggling lol der me!
