Is it time we start putting people who smoke in public places and while driving in prison? A 3 month prison sentence should suffice I think.
Can people drive in prison? must be huge prison cells
Under New Labour they probably can !!

Think they should let the publican decide, that way, there will be some smoking pubs, and some no smoking pubs, then smokers and non smokers can have a choice, Much better
idea, cant see it happining though!! :(well said thet person.
i was a publican for over ten years and came out of the trade last year the three monthe after the ban came in werent too bad, but as soon as the eather got bad it kiled my business, there are now 4 pubs to let in our village, and two clubs close by have closed. and its all totally down to the smoking ban. the government told everyone that the pubs would be full of families all spending and having a good time with no smokers in, anfd the oposite is the norm. now families stay at home still and so do the smokers, so in fact the real losers are the children, where before the ban, mum and dad had a pint and a fag while kids were tucked up with a babysitter or gran, they now have to put up with mum and dad arguing cos neither an go for a pint and a fag, this has caused untold domestic trouble and the kids are the ones suffering, well done anti smokers you have condemned children to a life of tension and fag smoke.
 :wink:17 February, 2008 at 6:29 pm #312542I have also heard on the news many times, bingo halls up and down the country are closing and blamed on the smoking ban. Maybe that’s why Geoff is always on here now? his local bingo hall is closed. I will sign the petition to get it re-opened!

 :wink:The smoking ban has not stopped anyone I know going to the pub. Most pubs have adapted and built outdoor smoking areas, like conservatories. Those that havent though have hoards of smokers inconsiderately blocking the entrance while they puff away. I went out last night and despite the smoking ban still came home reeking of cigarette smoke because of this very reason. Why dont they allow compromise and have the bar area as a smoking room and keep the lounge smoke free, that way people can choose what environment they sit in and everyones happy.

Geoff plays bingo? I dunno.. don’t you think it’s a lil ‘complex’ for him? You have to put a little dot on the number that’s called out, while Geoff is drooling down himself while clapping his hands with his tongue sticking out the side of the mouth I’m not really sure he’d beable to concentrate on the game in hand..
