yup sci fi and fantasy. oh well, only other thing i suggest is you phone up and ask your isp about your low speeds, i bet they will say its to do with the exchange not being upgraded yet or something.

guaranteed they will !!!! im a bit of a sci fi fan myself…didnt he write the books about the human going thru the mirrors ?? sorry for the ignorance ! have you read david gemmell….hes my favourite im afraid !! although they are, and have been getting all the same for the past few years which is a downer….can you recommend any good sci fi writers !! cheeky bint that i am !
ADSL 1 modems can do 8mbs download and 1 mbs upload
you might have modem set up wrong
british setting is G.dmt vpi = 0 vci = 38
PPP over ATM VCMUX
sounds like modulation is set to G.lite which only downloads at speeds of 1 mbs
you do get a degrade in speed on a 8mbs connection , but not as low as 1mbs
so if modem set up right you have to give you ISP a ring and complain

you have to tell me how he set his computer up .
If he running it through a peer to peer sharing the internet , uploading will be slow.
I noticed this with MSN while uploading files.
i have to use my main computer to upload files just to get a better upload rate.might be he hasn’t set his computer up correctly to a modem router if he running a router that is.

sweet did your isp supplier provide you the modem or did you buy it.
im happy with my speed cause i always get faster downloads than what that speed test gave as my speeds :D
