Sadly Sharon there isn’t a way that you can stop this forever. Once your e-mail address has been picked up by a spammer (they trawl the internet all the time for live mail addresses) you are on their ‘send to’ list until they eventually prune the list and delete ‘dead’ or ‘unresponsive’ addresses so as to keep their list current.

The generally accepted way to deal with this is to totally ignore any spam mails and simply delete them from your system WITHOUT opening them. Eventually and as your address is marked as unresponsive or dead it will be pruned from that particular spammer’s list.

However, it will by then have been sold on or added to other spam lists ….. and so the cycle repeats itself.

Anyone else getting emails from ‘MyOffers’? I get that a lot, even though I have a spam blocker in my internet security settings. Only thing to do is put them in my inbox, mark them as spam, delete them and hope for the best.

Strange thing is, I don’t get them in my hotmail account – my mum has a hotmail account and always gets the kind of emails mentioned here.

Obviously nobody wants my body :-({|=

Sharon, sweetie, a substantial number of spam e-mails have a built in little facility that asks your computer to send a ‘read receipt’ back to the sender. If you ”open” the mail, in the background and unknown to you, a mesage is sent back that CONFIRMS that not only have you received the mail but also that you have opened it.

This ”proves” to the spammer that they have a ‘live’ e-mail address and guess what ….. they’ll send you more and more. DO NOT OPEN SPAM E-MAILS !!!!! …. just delete them from your system or inbox and leave it at that.
