It may seem better than doing a cleaning or picker-packer job that leaves you with the same money, but really, focusing on the cash or the way your body feels (in bed or at work) is to miss the point – it’s your life and your personal development depends on who you spend time with. Passively receiving what the media feeds you will not bring much out of you, it won’t develop your ability to deal with people & situations & bring the best out of you and them.
I remember when I was unemployed, my busy friends seems more confident, with more going on in their lives.
How true are these proverbs!
“The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.”
“The soul of the sluggard desires, and has nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.”
“The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness”
“See a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men”
17 March, 2008 at 10:35 pm #318387I know, some folk think it’s great. For the first few weeks it was alright – nice to get a bit of time off cos after leaving school I had a year at college, couple of weeks off then started a skillseeker placement for two and a bit years. So the initial break was nice but after that I was wearily bored, even applying for jobs that I didn’t want.
My current job isn’t ideal but weighed up against being on the dole and only having one day a fortnight when you’re actually doing something (signing on) it wins outright.
17 March, 2008 at 10:52 pm #318388I was off work for several weeks, in fact from mid December to about 4 weeks ago, when I went back to work.
Iv’e worked pretty much most of my adult life. I had several years when I didn’t, when I stayed at home while my son was small. I went back to work when he started full time school.
During those weeks when I was off, yea the first couple of weeks it was great!!……..it wasn’t long though, till I started to climb the walls with sheer boredom. :? I’m back at work now and doing an average of between 20 and 37 hours a week, depends week to week on how short staffed we are. I’m very glad to be back at work and I personally think it wins hands down to being on the dole, or just being at home, not working. There are those who say that at my age, which is 60, (although I don’t feel 60 or act it for that matter  ) that I should be retired. I remember reading an article a little while ago, I can’t remember where or when (senior moment  ) about a very elderly man, in his 90’s I believe, he’d retired for a couple of years but due to the boredom, he went back to work, good for him I say!!,,,,,,,,

Educated people are happy to let them do it.

Time ands time again I’ve witnessed employers find a job/position for someone with a good positive can-do attitude to life.
Your negative hopeless thoughts help no-one. -
