I think peer pressure has a lot to do with smoking from youngsters. I have never smoked and I think it may be due to the fact that my very first bf ( who i adored as only a 14 year old girl can :D ) not only didnt smoke but hated smoking and would not go out with any girl who smoked :)

Thin, there also one of the highest tax payers. If smoking was made illegal or fully banned where do you think the government would get the missing money from??
Also where would they invest taxpayers money as currently its mainly invested in tabacco companys – where do you think they get penison money from (maybe thats just Ireland, but you’d wanna check its not England before you try and stop it fully)

State pension money is not from investment, it’s from current tax income. As for private pension funds, there are many other large scale industries crying out for investment that could be created with the scale of investment that tobacco gets. Even the profitability of tobacco is ramped up by the exotic taboo that surrounds it – I’ve never smoked but even I have a medium sized Cuban cigar sitting in my shed waiting for a suitable occasion . . . . . . .
