1 October, 2008 at 4:54 pm #375884It May work for some people..
I personally don’t think images as such would stop me.. It’s ME that has to stop ME..

dont be so bloody patronising. whats it to do with you if it happens to me?
Im pretty sure whatever “it” is will happen to me, Ive no doubt. Im damned if I can steer fate.
So you do think it’ll happen to you ? Exactly when did you become 80 and know everything, the only person patronising is you, I’ve been your age and gone way past it which means i know more about life in general if through nothing else but experience so dont patronise me.
Try reading the post properly first. Ive been in my 30’s and smoked and it would’nt happen to me till i got to where i am now and am convinced it would have happened to me.
If you’re pretty sure lung cancer will happen to you then you have to be more stupid than i gave you credit for if you still smoke. Where exactly did i say it had anything to do with me ? or is it all women who twist words to suit themselves. Wait till you’re hacking your lungs up and waiting for a hospital appt convinced you just might have cancer then come back and type ho hum if it happens it happens.
1 October, 2008 at 5:24 pm #375886It’s the stop-start that’s buggered my confidence up.
I managed to stop for a year and a half. Then started again for a year. Stopped again for 6 months, started again for a year, stopped again for a year and a half, then started again 2 months ago at a bad time.
Ready to get off them again now, but gotta get it into my mind that this time it’s gonna have to be for good, and Pandora’s Box can never be opened again.1 October, 2008 at 5:55 pm #375887What made you start again BM. 6 weeks was the longest i lasted before, this time it was a proper health scare made me stop.
Thing is the stress that took me from 20 to 40 a day is still sorta there and i find most days at some point i want a cigarette though i get through it though some days are worse than others but after 10 month i’m getting sick of wanting to light up even. Strangely sitting at my computer (cue a smart arsed comment from someone) I used to chain smoke, now that doesnt bother me, ditto when i drink seems to be when i have time to think i find myself craving more.

and where did I say it wont happen to me?! talk about twisting words. Im comfortable with my life, I do what I choose to do, not what im told to do.
And you always get so defensively angry to the point of rudeness when I disagree with you!

Now that is patronising.

 Shazzle getting a strop on!
Talking of fat bastards …. ay up Sian.
I’d ease up trying to be Mr Pleasant Terry you could do your tongue some serious damage, and if you’ve lived longer you’ve more life experience, you don’t have to be Mr Spock to see the logic in that
And what exactly are you disagreeing with sharon, that i was your age and thought it couldn’t happen to me, thing is i have to have been your age to become my age. Do you spend all day thinking “I’m gonna die of lung cancer” ? No of course you dont, at your age I did same thing, yeah it could happen i guess, all blaise about it, then you start to hack your lungs up and get laryngitis for 6 weeks and cameras up your nose.
I wasnt telling you to stop i was commenting that i used to say and think what you posted, as did no doubt posters like butterfly who died from smoking. Attitudes change as you get older and less able to do stuff you used to do as much through smoking as age
1 October, 2008 at 6:34 pm #375891I can’t believe you dug those old posts up like that.
If winning this argument means that much to you then get on with it.
Personally, I think you’ve sunk to an all-time low.1 October, 2008 at 6:36 pm #375892Im not 100 percent sure but I think Butterfly had something wrong with her that Smoking made far worse.
