30 September, 2008 at 9:52 pm #375874I agree with Esmeralda. Self-righteous ex-smokers, sanctimonious ex-drug takers of all sorts, in fact, make me want to throw up on their shoes. Spoilsport quitters.
30 September, 2008 at 9:58 pm #375875I disagree with not enjoying it.
I enjoy my coffee and fag in the morning
I enjoy my chat and a fag with my friend at work in the mid morning
I enjoy my tea and a fag after dinner
I enjoy my wine and a fag in the evening.
If I could kick the ones out inbetween which are just part of the habit, that may be useful.
A few of my friends are long term social smokers, Id love to be one too, but cant kick the ones I love.
And as Esme said, death is certain for us all, thats one thing for sure.
30 September, 2008 at 11:07 pm #375876As a friend of mine always said “There’s only two dead certainties in life ……. death and nurses!!!”
30 September, 2008 at 11:08 pm #375877I thought it was death and taxes?!

Yes that is the ”correct” quote ….. but he was being ironic ….. as if you didn’t spot that eh?
1 October, 2008 at 3:51 pm #375880It’s bloody ridiculous to say that people ‘don’t enjoy’ smoking when it’s the initial enjoyment which triggers the eventual addiction..in fact..even the notion of addiction is an insult to people who continue to smoke..not because they can’t desist..but because they enjoy the taste and flavour of their tobacco of choice. My dad died of lung cancer, it was a horrible way to go..but my cousin’s little girl is dying from a brain tumour. Death and illness are random pisstakes of the gods.
” If it’s for ye..it’ll no’ go by ye.”
And I write as an ex-smoker, neither smug nor censorius.1 October, 2008 at 3:51 pm #375881dont be so bloody patronising. whats it to do with you if it happens to me?
Im pretty sure whatever “it” is will happen to me, Ive no doubt. Im damned if I can steer fate.
