My pc runs mega slow!!!! Can someone help me! When i switch it on, it literally takes 10 mins to reach my home page. Ive deleted loads of stuff too and its still sluggish. Is it full of viruses? How can I resolve this problem? Any one that helps will get a Hermy Huggle!
Hunni what version of windows have you got for starters? ie xp or 98?. Have you even got virus protection? If not, get some,(norton is the best one) you can download stuff free, and run it. Then download spyware doctor, and run that. To get rid of any nasty bugs it finds you,ll have to purchase it though, it,s really cheap though dont worry lol. Then once you,ve done all that, run a scan disc and a defrag. You know what they are dont you Max lol. You can buy programes that clear your hard drive of stuff you dont need so that it boots up etc faster. Every now and then Max, your pc needs a good spring clean, bit like you lol. :wink: :wink: :wink: :wink: Let me know how you get on.
Thanks Bat! I knew i could rely on you! I have windows 2000, its older than me and its covered in rust and cobwebs, i bought it from a “mate” for 50 quid lol, ripoff merchant he is! Ive downloaded anti-virus and it scans and finds loads of stuff, but wen i click on delete it crashes everytime! GRRRRR how annoyin is that? I’ll give it another shot, thanks batty ur a true star! hermy huggle for you! x
Aww huni your welcome. Why dont you have a look on ebay? I got a refurbished dell 17 in monitor for 25 quid, including postage from ebay!! You can get some good stuff on there if you know where to look. Dont buy cheap stuff off of a “mate” max fgs lol. It prolly fell off of the back of a lorry. Windows 2000 is sooooooooo old. You need to get XP hun, much better. tcxxx

If your PC is running slow now on Windows 2000 , then it will be a hell of a lot slower if you run it on XP . What’s your memory size Hermann , you probably just need some extra RAM
Memory size??? RAM???? foreign language to me!!! all i know its 1MB broadband but ive deleted almost everything on my desktop except poker and JC of course
broadband won’t make your computer go any faster if there is not enough RAM – RAM is the area where the programs that you are running are held – if your running really slowly and boxes tend to blur into one another , then I think you need more RAM
Go into Control Panel – then SYSTEM – it will tell you your RAM size – anything less than 248 MB will be causing the problemCheers Mr Drivel, it says 129,260KB RAM, so i presume thats 128K which is half the size? how do i obtain more ram?
