Seeing as the Orange prize competition is only open to female authors, should there be a contest open only to male writers?

What do other male JCers feel about this?

It’s political madness gone correct, or something like that.

You don’t think the Orange prize adds colour to the end of year celebrity back-slapping tush-kissing pointless validation season then ? I think some famous female writers have refused their publishers permission to enter their books for this.

Do the authors have to prove they’re female and not men with high oestrogen writing under a pen name

Men’s Fiction as in: “I’m having to work late tonight darling, no that’s not the tinkle of glasses and the sound of darts thudding into someone’s head you can hear behind me.” before swanning off to the bar and awarding himself with first prize of a flagon of Olde Sheepe Dip, eight Johnny Walkers, and a feel at Brenda the barmaid’s arsen-wenger?
