Top player, absolute bellend of a man.
Funnily enough, at the time this happened it would be around the same he won Father of the year….
The England team on a whole is massively overated. They will do nothing with or without him.
2 February, 2010 at 10:44 am #430474He’s paid to play football, not to be a moral compass…we seem to expect everyone in the public eye to be without a blemish on their character these days no matter how well they do the job they’re paid to do.
How many others in the team would make a good captain AND have a totally blemish-free private life I wonder? It might be difficult to find a replacement don’t you think?
And god help whoever would be chosen to replace him if he was dropped, the press would be crawling over their private lives leaving no stone unturned, looking for just the merest hint of sleaze.
I actually agree with the FA stance (there’s a first time for everything!) that
We will meet the squad next month, before the game against Egypt. Then we’ll have the chance to observe the players and dynamic between them.
If he is still playing well, the team dynamics are sound and the team are still happy to have him as captain then he should stay.

the england captain needs to be whiter than white this day n age , he shud be sacked , ” we cant win without terry as captain ” ???? we have one world beater and thats rooney , pray he dnt get injured, i disagree with u pete i think we have more strength in depth than anyone ,we have loads of class players , too few world class[/quote
Not up on football, but wasn’t rooney found to be passing the time of day with a prostitute?
the comment was based on the statement made that england wouldnt win anything without terry as captain , on a football only basis only but yes rooney did something like that as a 18 year old , no kids , just a gf , i think we used to call it 2 timing when we was kids , i think theres a difference
agreed pete goalkeepings a problem and will cost us

3 February, 2010 at 5:14 pm #430482I’m not impressed with the FA here, leaving the decision to Capello.
There’s an awful lot of money involved with sponsorship deals, all of which means that the England Football Captain should be above reproach. These finances are required to develop the national game in general. Why else would they grab the global brand-name that is Beckham whenever he’s needed, as in the case of the recent draw in South Africa.
Great defender is Terry, but the way he lords it at Chelsea is ugly. Lots of staff there unhappy with him I’ve heard. Leaving his Bentley in the disabled spot outside Pizza Hut ? Taking cash that he hardly needs for illegal tours ? Using the World Cup Logo without permission to rake in more ?
I know that business with mocking the Americans after 9/11 was a while ago, but there seems to be something unsavoury about Terry coming out every month. It’s good that the super-secret-injunction got overturned, only the rich can afford it to keep their antics secret, and all of whom depend on a profitable wholesome image to make money. Which comes out of the pockets of ordinary fans who of course should be informed.
The FA need to get involved and protect the commercial interests and spirit of the national team in a big year. It’s not as if Capello doesn’t have alternatives.
