It’s really sad that the whole issue has become tainted or clouded by politics … but this is the reality we live with.

The plain fact is that if Lt. Fred Bloggs (or whoever) from some town in the UK gets killed in Iraq, yes it’s a tragedy … but not one that would of itself attract world headlines, a nation in mourning, state funerals, questions in Parliament and so on and so forth

If Lt. Harry Wales got killed can you just imagine the enormous worldwide publicity that this would attract? The propaganda coup for the group that killed him would be enormous – far more so than murdering the odd 50 her and 50 there of their own countrymen or blowing up the occasional US or UK armoured vehicle.

We are led to believe that, in advance of his proposed deployment into Iraq, groups of snipers and bombers have been specifically tasked with assassinating or murdering him. If there are collateral killings (i.e. the soldiers with him) then so much the better from the Iraqi point of view.

Sending a high value target into an active war zone makes absolutely no sense at all in military or in political terms. The upside if he survived would be minimal and the downside if it went wrong simply doesn’t bear thinking about.

The big disappointment is that it took the MOD and the politicians so long to realise this and only announce their decision at the last possible moment.

Like I said. They wear camoflauge and great big helmets. How will they know it’s him? They won’t.

If he wants to go, he should be allowed to go. Whatever happened to democracy?

This is yet another step by the evil communist parliament to stop us Royalists from gaining a bit of power back that is rightfully ours.

If we had total democracy I dont think we would even have a royal family for you to be a royalist about

Never mind manning the front line with ordinary folks, they ought to be manning the counter at macdonalds with em

Oh yeah, and as for us having a democracy, we only have that because the royals signed over their powers to a parliament to begin with

Anyway, we dont have a “democracy”, there isnt a country in the world that does and the concept is an unworkable ideal rather than a practicably appliable concept, we have a democratic process every 4 years to decide our dictator for the period (which is a massive improvement over a monarchy btw)

So we. as does most of the rest of the world have a democratic process to elect an oligarchy, which is still far more democratic than having a monarchy ruling

ohhh the press are at it again… in the Dailly Mail they got he will go out to Iraq but in a ‘low key mission’

well it aint low key when the effin press got hold of it eh…

If he doest get to Iraq.. they he should stand by his own words and leave the Army as if he aint going to war he’s as much us as a wet wkend withoot wellies….!!

Well for years we’ve had a primeminister who doesnt do anything good for the country, a deputy PM who just literally doesnt do anything except paid, a royalty that are the ultimate dole scroungers, muslim police officers that choose what they do and dont want to do and hoards of MP’s you never see or hear of until they want to be re-elected

So I suppose having soldiers that wont fight just sorta tops it all off nicely lol

im sure Harry would put his life down for his unit….!!! but i do agree with your words above… we saw oor local MP at the local elections he even came to our door… unwise move on his part… lol I bet he wished he never chapped…

so harrys not going after all eh ? i hope they let him sneak over and dont tell the press and the lad might just stand a chance of showing he can actually do the job whatto…

I saw on the news that he may be sent to Afghanistan. Presumably he’ll be the only British soldier there so’s not to place anyone else in danger?

The Army knew when he signed up that he could be placed in a situation like this.

It must be great to have such a positive outlook on life :D

I really cannot see what the fuss is about. Harry joins the army, army say “no, you cant go”, army is his boss so what army say, “happens”.

The fact that he wants to go is an irrelevance. I want to do several things in my job, which Im paid to do, n my boss says “no”. Doesnt bother me, I’ll just get paid lots and lots of money for doing less.
