I think he should be allowed to. Soldiers wear camoflauge & helmets. How is he going to be targetted? It’s not like he has a big sign above his head pointing towards him, is it?
He wants to fight – let him! His collegues have shown their support – let him! He’s possibly our future Commander in Chief, thus needs experience – LET HIM!
I don’t think he going now Smiley…. whats the point of him being in the Armed Forces if he not sent to War….. seems pointless him training now… as he’ll never get to the front line….
and I wanted a Im Harry Target T-shirt.. lol
17 May, 2007 at 10:42 am #268551It’s really sad that the whole issue has become tainted or clouded by politics … but this is the reality we live with.
The plain fact is that if Lt. Fred Bloggs (or whoever) from some town in the UK gets killed in Iraq, yes it’s a tragedy … but not one that would of itself attract world headlines, a nation in mourning, state funerals, questions in Parliament and so on and so forth
If Lt. Harry Wales got killed can you just imagine the enormous worldwide publicity that this would attract? The propaganda coup for the group that killed him would be enormous – far more so than murdering the odd 50 her and 50 there of their own countrymen or blowing up the occasional US or UK armoured vehicle.
We are led to believe that, in advance of his proposed deployment into Iraq, groups of snipers and bombers have been specifically tasked with assassinating or murdering him. If there are collateral killings (i.e. the soldiers with him) then so much the better from the Iraqi point of view.
Sending a high value target into an active war zone makes absolutely no sense at all in military or in political terms. The upside if he survived would be minimal and the downside if it went wrong simply doesn’t bear thinking about.
The big disappointment is that it took the MOD and the politicians so long to realise this and only announce their decision at the last possible moment.
17 May, 2007 at 11:29 am #268552Yes he can be killed anywhere anytime by anyone
Yes he was born into a Royal Family
Yes at the end of the day he is a person just like anyone else just richer
Yes he should fight if he wants to, keep the family tradition going
No the media press wont be aloud to follow him, I think the Army have ways of keeping them out
No he wont put others in danger, because at the end of the day its a war your going with the chance that your going to be killed so weather your chances are greater going with some one who will or could be a target, thats whoevers choice to go with him.
No he probably wont be killed by any iraq’s the chances are more likely for him to get killed by some American Soldier who cant make his mind up whos the enemy and whos the friend……..
So take out england out all together i say and let Bush play his dirty little games, why dont he send some of his rich little stars in I’m sure Paris Hilton and her poochie could go and do a packback trip around iraq, saves wasting prison food on her and her pooch, who knows she might be able to save that country and make them all clones of her………17 May, 2007 at 12:45 pm #268553Hes a royal, their purpose isnt to “lead” anything and hasnt been for centuries
That aside tho, perhaps he would be a lot safer over there if our own army stopped using the command “Fire at will”

[/quotTotally back what you’re saying PB   :lol:17 May, 2007 at 6:08 pm #268555Send them all there and get shot Including The f00king corgies
17 May, 2007 at 6:12 pm #268556I think we should send him with an adequately equiped (for a change) company of SAS and commandos rather than his normal regiment, dress them as his proper batallion and use him as bait then just shoot any camel jockies that try to take him out
Chances are he might still end up deaded but the losses accrued by the rag head insurgents trying to take him out would, or should with the correct pre-planning be immense severely curtailing their effectiveness for a while at least and diverting their efforts from other areas
If he wants to die for his country then I think we should let him, maybe if that happened our troops would finally be allowed to actually fight the war to win rather than approaching it like the salvation army led by social workers as they have been
Personally tho I think he knew all along he would never be allowed to be put in any real danger whilst he was making his overly vocal posturing statements

well im sorry Prince Harry is no better than anyother serving armed people he has a title and royal blood but he’s no different to tom, dick and fredia… my brother has been like many others and will no doubt have to take another tour either to Iraq or Afgh,,, aint gonna try n spell it,,, its his job… we as his family respect his dission to Fight for His Queen and Country… at the end of the day thats what he is paid to do, and has done so for the past 20 years….. if Harry went and got killed, like so many British Forces People have done, for Us as a Nation…. sad yes, many famlies have lost… Im sure if Harry had been in the situtation where he may have been captured Im sure he’d have a wee pill to take like 007…. Yes he poses a threat to his regiment but thats our media for you… why let any royal member join the forces then…. and didnt before in time our Kings fought along side his fellow men to fight for their Nation….
did any of that make sense…. lol
but now the question is….. will Harry leave the army, crash n burn in the niteclubs… move to South Africa and join up fighting for causes their cause a few red faces in the royal family…??? will Harry marry his lady have 3 kids and stand down from the royal family also…. take up the Earl fo Spencer title… who knows who cares… they really don’t matter to you, me or him next door eh…. they don’t pay oor bills…
