not that it makes much difference but I read her parents are a GP and a cardiologist.
As others have said, commonsense appears to have been missing but ultimately i am so sorry for the little girl, i genuinely hope the outcome is a positive one

This is true Slayer, and you’d have thought that a ”professional” couple would have known better eh?
I have a horrible feeling that this poor little girl has come to some harm. Too much time has elapsed between now and when she was kidnapped for there to be a good outcome.

it certainly appears that way PB… lets just hope there’s a glimmer of hope for this wee Lassie…
9 May, 2007 at 8:54 am #269749Pb defo right they say the first 24 hours is the most important, for each hour that goes by is another hour that it keeps them away from getting to the truth. I know they have sent some councilers over and police offers to liase with the parents and the goverment, but why dont they send special units in from the british side to handle things closely like they should if it was over here. Fare enough its a different country but it is still one of our little children shoudnt matter where in the world it happend but that anything and everything is done to see her safe return……
my thoughts are with her xx
9 May, 2007 at 10:28 am #269750Of course we all have the little girl’s interests foremost in our minds. But trying to second guess a Police operation without the facts is a pointless waste of time and the Media ought to know better.
It is interesting to note that the Media are complaining about the crime scene being contaminated by loads of people trampling all over it. Guess who were doing this???? Yes the bloody Media. They were all gagging for an ”exclusive” with the parents or the Police and didn’t give a stuff about the facts or the evidence.
9 May, 2007 at 11:13 am #269751well if i had been stupid enough to leave 3 children under the age of 4 unatended i’m afraid unlike her mother i wouldnt be in any fit state to go to church or take my remaining 2 out for walks after the event. i would be in a dark room somewhere sedated!. lets hope they found her. it doesnt even bear thinkin about what may have happened to her in the past few days.

You and me both PATS. I,d be out of mind by now if I was that girls mother.
I, like you, find it incredible that they actually left, 3 kids, under the age of 4, in an apartment whilst they went for a nice dinner!! ffs. Why didnt they eat in the apartment?
Like you said, it really doesnt bear thinking about whats happened to the poor little mite. Whoever has taken her must be miles away by now. Poor little mite.9 May, 2007 at 2:18 pm #269753I read in the paper today that a British holidaymaker noticed someone acting very strangely while she was there – looking in windows, trying to walk off with pushchairs etc – but did not report it until she heard of Maddie’s dissapearance three weeks after she returned home. My neighbours have a lot of grandkids and there’s always someone keeping an eye on them be it family or other neighbours and anything remotely suspicious wouldn’t be ignored. I’d rather have egg on my face if it meant peace of mind.
But I don’t think that a spokesman saying something like ‘Had she alerted staff sooner, we could have followed it up’ helps. I’m sure she feels bad enough right now under the circumstances.
9 May, 2007 at 2:35 pm #269754Of course its the parents fault, who elses?
I’m sick to the back teeth of this social ethos of a complete disregard for personal responsibility on every level except paying tax we seem to have
The less such things ARE vocalised the more they happen, which is pretty obvious to see nowadays, remove the blame for an action and more people will do it,,,, simple
Kids nowadays are getting more and more like fashion accessories, parents want to have kids but live as tho they dont have any. Its about time some pressure was bought to bear on parents to remind them that their children didnt CHOOSE to be born, and until they or the parents die parenting is their primary role in life and everything else should be a secondary consideration
If they arent happy with kids interfering with their social and work lives then just dont breed, equally simple
