I’m sure everyones heard on the news of the little girl that had gone missing in portugal 5 days ago. There are so many different speculations going around as to what had happend to her, but the thing that had shocked me the most out of all of it was that she was left alone with her younger siblings… i mean in this day and age when we hear of so many, awfull things about chidren going missing. Who? in their right mind would leave their kids alone. Yeah they had gone to check on them every 30 mins and they were only 200 yards away……. but isnt the saying it only takes one minute for something to go wrong…….
Id never leave mine alone, ever without knowing that some one is with him that i trust even when his with his Daddy i worry…. Maybe its just a new mum’s instict but i’d have thought people who have kids….. then again its not even that its general common sense isnt it to make sure that children are protected and looked after….
Why not use to nanny serve’s the resort had offerd?
Why not stay in the appartment and eat?
and to only check on them every 30 mins 3 chidlren under the age of 3…. Who in their right mind would do this?I do feel for the parents and maybe there was some missjudgement on how too look after the children….. but i do hope that little girl is safe and sound if anything I hope she is still alive out the somewhere…..
:( :( :( :(
8 May, 2007 at 11:10 am #269737I have to agree. While it probably looks as if it’s the most insensitive suggestion in the world to say that perhaps the parents should have been more responsible, it is also a painful truth whether people like it or not. Especially children of a certain age.
I also feel for the parents, but I know a lot people who have young kids who wouldn’t even dream of leaving their kids for that amount of time unsupervised or probably even in the care of a nanny come to that.
8 May, 2007 at 11:17 am #269738It does strike you as bizare, that a grown up couple thought a 5 year old was safe alone.
Every country has its filth.
I think this is child abuse, and the parents should be locked up for a month, one then the other.
8 May, 2007 at 12:18 pm #269739she could have been taken just as easily from the swimming pool, the restaurant or anywhere. If a paedophile predator has their eyes on a child they will find a way to get to them however carefully you look after them.
i think her parents may have been a little foolish but they are paying the ultimate price for it now. I used to work with these kind men and they cant be cured they should be put to sleep like the monsters they are.
we sholdnt be so quick to punish the parents they also must be suffering terribly thinking what may be happening to their beautiful little girl. lets hope that she is returned at least alive and soon… bless her8 May, 2007 at 2:18 pm #269740i note on sky tv they have been reading e mails from people all over the world sending support and wishes to lill maddies family, its wonderful to see but one such e mail was from a class of children who are praying to the lord for her safe return.
the nuns who teach these lill kids sent a heart warming message of support. but if there was a god he would never allow this kind of evil to happen would he ??? he allowed the moors murderers to take children. the lord is allowing millions to die in wars all over the world in his name ????? praise the lord indeed..
lets hope maddie is found safe and well.8 May, 2007 at 4:10 pm #269741I find it really hard to forgive the parents for leaving their little girl unattended. Yes, it’s a terrible tragedy, but the two parents have only themselves to blame.
Let us all remember that it wasn’t just a three year old left unattended, but also TWO other babies. So the parents went out to enjoy themselves and made NO ARRANGEMENTS to look after or supervise their THREE children – other than to pop back every half hour or so to see if they were alright and hadn’t got hurt.
We don’t know if they actually did go back regularly – or at all.
They could have done what MrsPB and I did, and that is take the child / children with them when they went out to eat. In Europe this is quite normal and is accepted.
In this country it is a criminal offence to leave young children on their own unsupervised !!!!!
8 May, 2007 at 4:44 pm #269742Being a Mother when I first heard the story I was bewildered that the Parents left 3 kids alone in an apartment…. as PB said… when ever Im abroad with my kids they are by my side, if we’re goin out for a late meal… we take the kids… and the Buggys…. acts as a bed …!!! Im shocked…. I think what both the parents are going through at present is enough punishment….
lets hope the this little girl is returned home safe and sound… x
8 May, 2007 at 7:21 pm #269743I just saw on Sky Sports News that John Terry and I think it was Carvalhio (the Portugeese bloke) making an appeal, albeit I only caught the tail end of it. While I applaud such a gesture, I am baffled by it as I always am by these celeb appeals.
If someone does have information, do you honestly think they were sitting waiting for someone with a bit of status to nudge them in the right direction? I always think that these sort of appeals are a sad reflection on society.
8 May, 2007 at 7:52 pm #269744while i agree they shouldnt have
the guilt for the rest of their lives irrespective of the outcome
come home safely maddie is all i have to say8 May, 2007 at 10:34 pm #269745Another thing that irritates me about all this is the constant harping on by the Media.
Apparently, Portuguese law (unlike UK law) specifically prohibits the Police from releasing ANY details of an ongoing investigation. For them to do so is a criminal offence (in Portugal).
So knowing this – which the Media do know full well – why on earth do they go on and on about the Police refusing to release information and making such a great big deal of it.
OK so the Media is denied information and can’t go on the usual feeding frenzy. But all this stuff about Police incompetence and ”questions must be asked” is diverting attention away from the issue.
I also totally agree with John boy’s comment about celeb appeals. What on earth difference is ”Ronaldo” going to make to all this. He is simply indulging in a bit of celebrity grandstanding – no doubt encouraged (again) by the Media who are desperate to find an angle on the story.
