A truly brilliant tribute.. written for the brave men and women of the emergency services who made the ultimate sacrifice on that horrific day 10 years ago.

    THE RISING

Can’t see nothin’ in front of me
Can’t see nothin’ coming up behind
I make my way through this darkness
I can’t feel nothing but this chain that binds me
Lost track of how far I’ve gone
How far I’ve gone, how high I’ve climbed
On my back’s a sixty pound stone
On my shoulder a half mile of line

Come on up for the rising
Come on up, lay your hands in mine
Come on up for the rising
Come on up for the rising tonight

    Left the house this morning
    Bells ringing filled the air
I was wearin’ the cross of my calling
On wheels of fire I come rollin’ down here

Come on up for the rising
Come on up, lay your hands in mine
Come on up for the rising
Come on up for the rising

There’s spirits above and behind me
Faces gone black, eyes burnin’ bright
May their precious blood bind me
Lord, as I stand before your fiery light

I see you Mary in the garden
In the garden of a thousand sighs
There’s holy pictures of our children
Dancin’ in a sky filled with light
May I feel your arms around me
May I feel your blood mix with mine
A dream of life comes to me
Like a catfish dancin’ on the end of my line

Sky of blackness and sorrow (a dream of life)
Sky of love, sky of tears (a dream of life)
Sky of glory and sadness (a dream of life)
Sky of mercy, sky of fear (a dream of life)
Sky of memory and shadow (a dream of life)
Your burnin’ wind fills my arms tonight
Sky of longing and emptiness (a dream of life)
Sky of fullness, sky of blessed life

Come on up for the rising
Come on up, lay your hands in mine
Come on up for the rising
Come on up for the rising tonight

What a fantastic tribute SGT. Brings you to tears.
To all those innocent people who lost their lives on that terrible day, may you all rest in peace.

When you see repeated footage of the 9/11 attacks it is easy to forgot that there was real people in the the towers, actual people falling to their deaths, hearing them hit the ground… someones loved one.
It is easy to desensitize yourself from this. Yes it is 10 years on, but these people are war dead as far as I am concerned. I have just taken time to look through the memorial list and see the people we collectively call the victims… Bless them all.

    Lest we forget.

I was actually glued to the screen that day. I had put the tv on when I had got in from work and didn’t realise what was going on until a friend phoned me telling me to put bbc on……..I said it was on and I was watching an amazing film that had excellent special effects……..they then explained it was real.

It sad looking at all them people who lost their live’s.
All them children who will grow up without parents.
People stranded without any hope, family or friends.
Streets after streets that will take decades to clean and get back to order.

By the way – NO the above four lines are NOT about the September 11th attacks but more what America does to the rest of the world on an on-going basis.

Maybe someday America will stop bombing other countrys and therefore “Terrorists” will not retaliate back on their shores. Maybe then we can all mourn our loss without thinking that ONE county is better than an other.
