    Im trying to get aold scanner working on my laptop, having trouble the lappy finding the scanner which is plugged into the paralell port,scanner that old it ant got USB connection.

    Ive install the cd which came with the scanner, but it was really for win 98 and not XP .. its a Aries scanner.

    anyone got any idea ? or knowledge about TWIAN drivers ?

    I seem to remember having this issue myself some time ago.

    My fix was to visit the manufacturer’s site and download an up to date driver, or at least one that is compatable with XP.

    Lots of devices that work with Win 9X won’t work with WinXP – or at least their functionality is impaired.

    thanks for that PB .. Ive been searching every where trying to find the right driver … i keep getting a error message saying that the parallel port adapter isnt compatible with the scanner.

    I did get a scucci card with the scanner, which maybe the fix for it, but trying to fit this card into the lappy is going be a difficult job :wink: :?

    Well attempting to instal a Scuzzi card into a laptop is absolutely not to be recommended – particularly if it isn’t compatable with WinXP (i.e. you don’t have the correct drivers for it). Apart from anything else they are b’stards to work on (compared with a PC that is).

    It amy just be that your old scanner isn’t supported any more or that any drivers you have found on the manufacturer’s site for that make and model are not compatable with XP.

    Theoretically you should be able to connect your scanner to the lapdog – turn it on – and XP ought to recognise a ”new device” and walk you through the installation wizard. Does this happen?????

    nope it didnt PB .. I had to stick the CD in and install from there and then after it said that EPP and other stuff ant compatible and to d/l from manufactures the new drivers .

    I cant remember where i got the scanner i think it was from Watfod electronics .. i dont think ill get any joy from there.

    I thought maybe it was to do with the TWAIN setup but ive checked that, and it ant it.

    btw succi card is only for pc .. ;-)

    I had a similar problem with a scanner that my brother gave me [talk about being built like a brick sh’t house………the scanner not my brother ! lol].

    Anyhoo, I found the driver on here:-

    You have to register but hey they had the driver [for different Windows versiolns] and it worked.
